I worked at Snowline Joint Unified School District part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility, nice staff, friendly environment, good school, love everything about my job. Relatively easy work and decent pay.

    Cons

Didn't get a lot of hours, sometimes tutoring hall was empty, so no real work to be done. Pay could have been better, but was fair.

    Advice to Management

    None, they were perfectly pleasant.

I worked at Snowline Joint Unified School District part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I had a great supervisor for awhile. A lot of the staff are nice to work with. Sometimes snow days happened.

    Cons

At the district level there is no real care or concern for their employees. At the site level, depending on who your Principal is, they are okay with their lower level staff taking on more work than they should. It's not uncommon for a part time associate to carry the weight of a salaried teacher. The district cares more about funding than anything else.

    Advice to Management

Treat all employees with respect. Focus more on taking care of your employees and less on your funding from the government. If you take care of all levels of your employees it will trickle down into how they do their job.

    Pros

Good salary, once you are tenured -- no fear of losing your job! Teachers are left alone to do what ever they want in their classroom. I don't think the administration has ever been in my classroom.

    Cons

No support from administration regarding student behavior (only one dean is awesome and will come in to help with dicipline), parent conflicts, and general classroom support.

    Advice to Management

Leave your office and help your teachers!

    Pros

Nice rural atmosphere. Full of hard working people who are dedicated to their jobs.

    Cons

Pay rate is lacking in comparison to other districts. Very tight budget. Does not provide annual state mandated COLAs

    Advice to Management

Remember who makes your district function and take care of them. Pay your employees what they are worth.
