I have been working at Snowshoe Mountain full-time

    Pros

Cool perks like skiing and riding privileges.
    Tight-knit community of awesome coworkers.
    (Usually) Laid back atmosphere.
    Great CEO

    Cons

Very noncompetitive pay, often 15-20K below the national average for many roles.
Sometimes a department vs. department feel at the SLT level. Need to get on the same team.

    Advice to Management

Reward good employees with the same financial incentives that the upper leadership have, rather than gift cards and more work.

I have been working at Snowshoe Mountain full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's a very beautiful place to work. It's remote so you see wild life instead of ski scrapers. The people are awesome to work with.

    Cons

Cell service is improving but limited to 1 carrier, Always expected to work weekends and Holidays, Upper management needs to step in more and work with their employees they would get more respect that way, Communication needs to improve. People need to slow down and think through all the new ideas and what will need to happen to accomplish those goals would make the process better for all that are involved.

    Advice to Management

Allowing employees to have some weekends off even if it was 1 a month or a rotation would be nice same for holidays I know that is our busy time but some of the full time staff that isn't management would like to spend time with their families on the holidays as well not just after they get off work (not really speaking from experience just see a lot of this)
For the project down time it would be nice to have team building activities to do as a department while your in working hours because who wants to do that stuff on their own time? even if it only happened once a year it would be nice.
Treating people like they are replaceable is not the best way to get productivity try building them up and give them the tools to excel in their position.
I have been around long enough to see its about who you know at the resort when it comes to upper management and this needs to stop! Everyone that works here is just as valuable to making this place a great place to work and visit for our guest and it shouldn't be so political.

    Pros

Very dedicated, cohesive team. Free season pass, discounted lift tickets for friends and family. Good meal discounts at fast food establishments. Down home Family atmosphere among employees and guests. Beautiful views of the WV wilderness, wildlife is abundant on and around the mountain. Some of the cleanest mountain air in the country. Great group of snowmakers, groomers and park builders that create a fantastic product nightly. Work, play, get paid while being immersed in a beautifully stunning wilderness setting.

    Cons

The mountain weather can sometimes be fickle at 4848.

    Advice to Management

Please keep moving us forward. The mountain has a lot of untapped potential and plenty of room for future growth opportunities. Keep the dedicated employees in mind creating more incentives to retain them as promoters of the mountain. Keep up the good work.

    Cons

HR Requests are not listened to or not performed in a timely manner
Lack of Wifi/cell availability (not entirely Snowshoe's fault)

    Advice to Management

    Don't be so petty
Design better teaching terrain more conducive to learners - not on a windblown ice sheet!
