I worked at SoHo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People that you work with. (Make good relationships with customers and other workers.) Depending on location you are at, you can make more money through commission. You have the opportunity to grow within the company. (Move up to management or even possible to ownership.) possible opportunity to fly to different locations for trainings or for annual meetings. (All expense paid)

Learning to do hair and hair styles.

    Cons

Severity depending on your position. Always standing on feet. Working long shifts. Unrealistic expectation and nothing is ever good enough. For some, learning to do hairstyles can be a challenge.

If you're a sales associate, it's a very demanding job. You need to make sure you meet your numbers and they really push you! You have to go out and grab people to buy from you.

If you're in management, it's even more stressful. You don't get paid enough for what you do/what you deal with. No work-life balance. Micromanaging owner. You literally have NO LIFE!

    Advice to Management

I've tried giving advice & constructive criticism, but they won't take it because in their eyes...they are successful. (Why should they change their ways..) What they don't know is that many of their employees are unhappy and leave because of the owner. Employees stay usually because of management.

    Pros

You will get to travel across the country from west to east a lot. They train you a lot of sales skill. You will learn a lot of method how to make various hair styles using their products. It is actually fun to learn.

    Cons

You will be forced to sell their products at kiosks regardless of your position. Employees don't leave the office until the owner leaves. They easily stay till 9 pm at average.

You get a discounted price on the products plus a 30% discount.

    Cons

I am worked constantly. Our customer service sucks. I don't get paid nearly enough for what I do.

    Cons

    Overtime.
You have to stand up all day.
    No vacations
    No days off
    They overwork their managers

    I worked at SoHo part-time

    Pros

Working face to face with customers everyday was a truly a joy.

The management needed to treat employees better and learn how to properly train new employees.

    Advice to Management

Develop some sort of training program.

I worked at SoHo part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

At one point we started working like 5 days a week and made good money, but the sales approach we have to use may not be the best (we worked in a booth)

    Cons

....we worked in a booth and i hated annoying people with accessories trying to get them to put it on...

    I worked at SoHo full-time

    Pros

If you like accessories and especially hair trends, this is the company you want to work for. Deals with a lot of fun events, products, and customers. You may transfer from one location to another because it is dispersed throughout the country.

    Cons

There is lack of organization and a lot of overtime although this may differ depending on the position. The company culture is still too monocultural even though the client pool has been expanded to multicultral level.

    Advice to Management

I think the HR department needs to really encourage the CEOs of the changes that need to take place in order for this company to grow. If certain changes are not made, the high turnover rate within the company will continue to take place.
