    Pros

The People! Dedicated, resourceful, team-oriented and smart. Everybody has a deep understanding of the business (Realtime Software Testing) and they have a passion to develop product, market and sell. This shows given the tenure they enjoy by marquee accounts. The executive management team have worked together for decades and do alot to foster the culture.

    Cons

I would have liked to see more infrastructure put around data collection and administration of the SaaS Applications. Although product feature and functionality is excellent, it would be beneficial to collect more tracking data regarding actual product usage.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!!!

    I worked at Soasta full-time

    Pros

People were very nice, great culture. Very generous company, good equipment and supplies. Great office location, too.

    Cons

Company sales are not the strongest, still a growing start up with a lot of potential (and competition). Traffic can get pretty bad.

    Soasta Response

Thank you for your review! We're hoping traffic (and sales) get better too!

I have been working at Soasta full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The engineering and product leadership teams are about as visionary as you can find anywhere, even in the heart of Silicon Valley where SOASTA lives. Over the past ten years SOASTA has grown from one product to four and each of them has proven to be ahead of it's time when development was started, each then blossoming into a market leader about two years from its inception. That's pretty much unheard of for software companies. Every SOASTA product has off-the-charts wow factor and is a technical marvel under the hood; excelling in multiple patented and patent-pending areas for real-time data streaming, big data, and analytics. SOASTA has more than 50 of the top 100 internet retailers as customers and a customer list that any company would dream to have. Working on SOASTA products means that you get to work on relevant, technically challenging problems for customers that are recognized the world over. For designers, engineers, and product managers that want to work on challenging problems with the latest and greatest technologies, this is the place. Engineering is fun and engaging with nice, smart people around you. Every engineer has the best gear at their finger tips, including a mac pro, a macbook pro, an ipad, multiple 2k or 4k displays, and any other piece of gear you need on day one. SOASTA treats its product team very well and the quality of SOASTA products reflect this level of investment.

    Cons

SOASTA has an experienced leadership team that has built many companies together, having taken over six of them to IPO or acquisition. In 2010 the company was rated number one for leadership on Wall Street Journal's top 50 hottest companies list. That said, many would find the overall culture of SOASTA as a company a bit outdated for the valley. The company is run very lean with few amenities for employees (which is smart when you're a startup). Despite doing quite well growing year-over-year financially, the company has no 401k matching. Communication from leadership to the company happens once per quarter and is pretty limited to information that's already available. SOASTA has always thrived on having very strong and independent individual contributors, but as the company has grown from a few people to hundreds the company culture hasn't really adapted to the change from startup to the big-time player that it is now. This is a challenge that needs addressed in the near future. Engineering culture is a 10/10, but I think that most would agree that overall company culture is pretty non-existent. Work hard, do the best work you've ever done and have it show, but then go home. That is a reasonable description. It's not a bad culture, it just is what it is. Very focused on work.

    Advice to Management

It's time to think long-term about the culture that should be cultivated in order to make SOASTA a lasting powerhouse in the industry. The elements are there but they need to be cultivated and made part of SOASTA DNA. There are so many good people on the leadership team and so many employees that do great things in and for the community. We should embrace these things and give back even more. We should focus on the things that make us great and make them part of our culture. Then SOASTA becomes legendary.
