    Pros

Nice customers and colleagues got along well

I worked at Sobeys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Repetitive work that's easy to follow (especially if you use recipes)
Lots of hours in summer months
Chance to advance in company (if you DON'T 'rock the boat')

    Cons

Customer service limited by how much money they spend on regular basis
If you like to think for yourself, look for another company to work for
DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA... promotions often mirror ability to suck up to the right manager at the right times (like site visits by upper management)

    Advice to Management

Customers are THE source of your business
Staff that are HAPPY with their job will treat the customers like gold...and encourage them to spend more regularly... staff that LOOK as STRESSED as they actually are (due to your unreasonable expectations and drama) will DRIVE CUSTOMERS AWAY TO LOBLAWS & WALMART!!

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Sobeys part-time

    Pros

The management and staff are alright at my location, they are extremely friendly to get along with, and are helpful with some situations

    Cons

If you are trying to learn something, it appears that the learning style is to learn as you go. Not helpful at all

    Advice to Management

It is difficult to find time to learn, and it seems like it should be easier to teach staff except that is not how it should be done in my opinion

    Advice to Management

get better middle management who will work with the store managers and dept mgrs. not people with huge egos

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Sobeys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of great people, especially in the administrative part of the business
Food focused Company which is great if you are a foodie

    Cons

Negative culture shift since merging with Safeway, terrible US based Safeway culture has ruined good-natured Sobeys West culture

    Advice to Management

Embrace the Sobeys West ways and distance yourself from the Safeway culture in any way you can
Get rid of senior management that is bad for culture and business!!! "Shoot the stragglers" as one senior leader once said to a regional office full of employees in relation to their employment during a restructure!!!
