    I worked at Sobeys full-time

    Pros

Great co-workers, decent pay, and more than fair working conditions. Company sponsored many great activities in the corp environment\office. I really enjoyed my first few years at the company.

    Cons

Very few training opportunities provided after hire. It is a business but unfortunately many of us dedicated Sobeys workers lost employment after the Safeway acquisition.

I worked at Sobeys part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of my co-workers were really nice. Not very stressful. Training is very easy.

    Cons

Never appreciated for doing good work. Pay is horrible. Lots of hour cuts, so the weights of other peoples jobs are placed on you. When I used to push carts, I'd be expected to get the carts, do parcel pick up, work cash, return overstock, clean bathrooms, floors, parking lot, change garbages... etc. Basically I was doing the work of a cart pusher, cashier and maintenance worker because they cut everyones hours.

    Advice to Management

Show some appreciation to the workers who do good work. If an employee is a hard worker, I don't think they should have to wait 500 hours to get a 0.25 raise.. If you treated the hard working employees right, maybe they wouldn't all be leaving, and you wouldn't have such a huge turnover rate. Also, maybe they would be motivated to do extra work, instead of being so annoyed that they just want to do the minimum.

I have been working at Sobeys full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

At this time none. Company is confused as to who they want to be- no frills or a longos. Good sales for customers if they can figure them out.

    Cons

Completely unethical with relation to the amount of meat and produce wasted. No organization picks up product just all gets tossed. No point in slaughtering these animals for no sales. Completely soul destroying work place environment in Oakville.

    Advice to Management

Get an organization in to donate this food. Stop misleading everyone. Enough of the part time kids who call in sick. Get a labour budget in place to grab better long term employees.

I worked at Sobeys part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, front line employees are very helpful. Part-time hours and paid breaks. Option to leave early when there is not enough orders to complete.

    Cons

Lack of support from leadership team. They treat you like a number not a human being. If you address your concerns and they don't like it you're out. No support to help you improve your performance. You're on your own.

    Advice to Management

The Milton Retail Distribution Centre is closing and I can see why. Most likely this feedback won't initiate any change as you are closing soon, it's more to help the people who are considering working at this location. Here's my advice:
Hold your leadership team accountable for their unprofessional behaviour such as not responding to emails when you need assistance, speaking to people in a condescending tone, and not willing to accept documentation to support why your performance is not meeting standards. Instead you get unprofessional responses like "this is a waste of my time". When your leadership team makes a mistake they don't take ownership and blame you because they can get away with it. I'm happy to no longer be working here. Clearly you don't value hardworking people and prefer the ones, who are afraid to speak up and who appear to be working hard because they know how to game the system to make it look like they're meeting standards.
