I have been working at Société Générale full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good balance between pro and private life.
    Good team spirit.
    Good bank focused on technology
Opportunities to work in many countries as it is a worldwide bank

    Cons

Basic salary lower than in the others banks
Bonus lower as well (and still decreasing)
Always moving the staff around the 3 buildings
Always taking bad decisions even if others failed before (Work From Home extended to permanent staff to reduce by 20% the available desks)

    Advice to Management

    Stop spending money in moves
Start doing proper evaluation, staff working hard are fed up not being considered during the Bonus Day - you'll use the best people at some point

I worked at Société Générale as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Large business who have big ambitions

    Cons

Disrespectful at handling internal affairs, especially during company acquisitions and redundancies. If they can get away with giving a reason for termination they will.

    Advice to Management

Too many chefs spoil the broth.

I worked at Société Générale full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

With the right manager, you'll be well supported and have good promotion prospects
Tonnes of training available - you just have to ask

    Cons

The right manager is sometimes hard to come by
There's an over-reliance on off-shoring processes to India
Regardless of whether you do the work or not, there's a lot of clock watching

    Advice to Management

Reduce the level of off shoring of critical process. Yes, you're saving money by putting ops/IT teams in Chennai/Bangalore, but quality of work suffers.

I have been working at Société Générale full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some very nice people with great tenacity work here.

    Cons

    Horrible, horrible pay.
    Lack of career progression.
Massive bureaucracy, many many silos for each function, endless meetings about meetings.
Too many things get decided in Paris by people just plugging in random numbers into a spreadsheet with little reflection of reality.
Management constantly lies, makes false promises.
