    Pros

Very good experience; many creative & talented employees, good benefits-medical & Time off, lots of available training. Very good brand, great marketing, HR tools continue to improve

    Cons

    Aggressive in achieving goals, keep many junior employees at very low wages;
Negotiate your best salary coming in-very little increases after being hired.-
Preach a work-life balance but it does not exist outside--look at the top senior mgrs.-the unspoken word is you will be available 24/7. There is always a high priority project that has not been rolled out in advance creating required after hours work.

    Advice to Management

A few less financial advisors and put more into the operational folks who are interacting with customers on a daily basis

    Pros

The opportunity to work independently. Believe me, you will be on your own spending the majority of your time putting out fires and defending your company from dissatisfied clients.

    Cons

A company that places an emphasis on completing tasks that are internal rather than external. In other words, you will spend your time satisfying the need of the marketing department, sales department, finance department etc. etc. before addressing the needs of your clients.
As a district manager, you will have 1 full time job answering to "Sodexo" and another full time job taking care of your client's needs.

    Advice to Management

Give the resources back to the most important people in the organization- the ones that deal with the clients.
Reduce the demands placed on District Managers internally. The position should be about answering the needs of the clients so that business can be retained.

I worked at Sodexo full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and a reasonable pay structure. Depending on your personal reporting structure you can do very well. I personally had a good work life balance and ealry in my career had good opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Because of the decentralized and autonomous nature of the business, there is not a good oversight of talent. Little opportunity to rise above your role with limited access to upper level managers. Immediate supervisor was a mico-manager. Very little ability to think on your own or "run your own business". Criteria for success was different depending on who you reported to. Company has a solid set of core values, but they are just words on a page when upper level managers do not live them.

    Advice to Management

More oversight for VP's and consistent goals and criteria for all managers at the same level. ie. Managers in the West are held to a much higher standard then those in the east. Get out of your officesd and get to know the managers on the ground.

I worked at Sodexo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Diversity is a hallmark of the company.

    Cons

Lack of onboarding. Expensive benefits. Some senior leaders are more interested in promoting their buddies rather than objectively looking at all qualified candidates for promotions.

    Advice to Management

Create a culture of accountability for senior leaders. It appears there's a new mandate from upper management every couple of months, which in turns, creates a culture of distrust and confusion for those on the front lines. In other words, narrow the strategic focus, and stop jumping from one initiative to the next without first completing the initial one first.
