I worked at Sodexo part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Salary and hours would've been ok if they hadn't reduced it during my employment.

    Cons

Worked with this company at a University in Philadelphia it had a contract with. I was an adult student there, and was was offered a certain benefits package that allowed me to pay all my bills. However, they offer the students of that school, and only that school, lesser wages and hours. When they found out I attended that school, my hours and salary were cut. I tried to explain my situation to the management, but they didn't care. It dramatically effected my living situation. Sodexo had an agreement with a food service union and I was told different stories by both parties.

I worked at Sodexo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are none. Low pay for what you do. Job description is nothing like what you are expected to do say in and say out.

    Cons

Too many to list. This is a horrible company to work for. You need to know somebody to move up. If you want to transfer to another account be careful your supervisor will trash you.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging and get a grasp on reality

I have been working at Sodexo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Plenty of room for career growth. Work balance is decent if the proper staff is in place. Workweek is typically 42 to 48 hours.

    Cons

Account retention in this area seems to be low in the past decade. High level management seemed to be non-existent for several years at this account until it was too late; the client was already upset and looking for change when the proper personnel were eventually put into place. I would only recommend if the position is in an account that seems to have a good relationship with their client, but that can be difficult to observe as a potential hire.

    Advice to Management

Work on accounts that we currently have to grow those relationships.

I worked at Sodexo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Sodexo is a global company, and therefore, upon being hired, employees have access to vast resources. Such resources range from great benefits and fair pay, and continue with things like access to Sodexo groups that support various movements and also allow for lots of networking.

    Cons

Sodexo has lots of room for advancement.. until you are put directly under a senior manager who does not care for you or your style. Then, the advancement and growth opportunities stop. It becomes very difficult to get out from under an un-likeable, unmotivating, senior manager. No matter how well you are doing at your job, or how much the administration of the hospital, school or other venue that is contracted with Sodexo continues to praise your work and recognize your efforts, there is little an employee can do to switch locations; although, Sodexo, as a brand, makes it seem like transferring is easy.

    Advice to Management

Allow new, younger management to express their ideas and be given a chance to try new things. Sodexo has a script for everything. This "rulebook" comes in handy a lot; however, Senior Management needs to recognize the need for deviation from the corporate rulebook occasionally.

I worked at Sodexo full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

not applicable. I have nothing positive to add to this space.

    Cons

The company discriminates based on age, race and gender. The company and its top management team does not listen or care to listen to mid-level and lower-level employees. The company allows top managers to bully other employees.

    Advice to Management

Weed out the "dead wood" managers that have been with the company for years and years, and breathe new life into the company. Practice what you preach. The company claims to be diverse, but is not diverse at all. It is a "good ol' boys" network.

    Pros

    Great opportunities for advancement
When they have an asset, they retain that asset.

    Cons

Benefits need work. Used to be good before Healthcare "reform", so it may not be their fault.
Give you an abundance of vacation time but never an opportunity (at least at my level) to take it.
