Pros
Good culture for extroverts, can bring your dog to work, Beer Cart Fridays, cool office space, lots of new grads, good entry level point for salespeople
Cons
It's not ideal for an introvert as everyone is practically best friends with each other and they expect you to be too. Low base salary for entry level sales people compared to other similar companies. Lots of contractors, high turnover.

Very juvenile high school setting.
Jun 21, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
VERY young work environment. Very much like a high school setting with managers and supervisors that micro manage their students. Sure you can bring your dog to work but that doesn't compensate for the low wages or high parking fees. They do give back with 2 Volunteer Days which is admirable as well as a Recess Day which is a day off. Nice.
Cons
For an IT Tech company they do not invest in their people or their hardware & software. The attrition rate is high and revolving door is forever swinging round and round. No work life balance and no additional resources to get the job done. Managers can be very condescending to their teams and yet they expect to be recognized as a Best Managed Company by pressuring their teams to complete the surveys favorably.

Good kickstart to your career in technology and sales.

Thorough training and fun culture: beer cart and you can bring your dog to work.
Cons
High turn over in management and account managers.

make close friendships with your co-works, bring you dog to work, great office, fun environment, great learning experience
Cons
base salaries are SO low, they expect employees to work 10 hour days, and managers do not value opinions or feedback. if you have a bad month or two - you will be fired.

Softchoice is fun but still going through growing pains!
Jul 28, 2008 - Inside Sales Account Manager in Seattle, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great people in a great office. Lot of little perks; free food, gifts, bring your dog to work and other spiffs. Not micromanaged a lot of autonomy, get to run your own business. Relaxed work environment allows for some good times. Very accommodating to vacation and personal time off. Limited rules on dress and attire.
Cons
Limited growth potential. Poor management from a support role. Infrastructure not in place to grow as fast as they would want. High turnover. Low salary compared to competitors and other jobs in the same field. Keep acquiring companies with out proper resources. Goals increase faster than industry standards. 401k not very good.

Great place to work for work-life balance. work from home policies, bring your dog to work perk.
Cons
Low base salary and flawed commission structure.

Pros
It is not a surprise why this company is in the top workplaces. The company is really a fun place to work, amazing environment, great team of people that will help you always, a dog friendly environment even in meeting rooms, 2 days of volunteer activities and tons of some other events from Softchoice Care giving back to the community, beer cart once a month... everything you can dream about the company. There is also a lot of challenges that help you to growth as a professional. It is nice to meet a lot of people that are with Softchoice for several years.
Cons
hum... I can't think in any

Great company for Sales roles no growth for anything else
Nov 25, 2020 - Anonymous Employee in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-The executive leadership team at this company is solid. If you look at the profiles of the ELT they are relatively new with established careers and the strategy from the ELT is sound -There are career advancement opportunities for employees in Sales positions. You can start as a Account Manager and navigate your way to a manager, outbound, DSM, RVP -Provides all the other perks of other tech companies such as beer cart, bring your dog to work, ping pong tables, onsite gym (if you are into that stuff) -Company has many corporate social responsibility initiatives such as a day to volunteer, Softchoice cares and many other events -ELT really tries to stick to being human and inspiring and handled the shift during the pandemic very well.
Cons
-Below market salaries across the organization. This company would spend more to hire a new employee then pay an increase to maintain an existing one -High turnover. This company struggles to retain top talent so your are left working with mediocre staff. During my time here I would be surprised if anyone stayed longer than 2 years. In sales it can be as short as 6 months -This company is a Sales company first, as such 90% of P club seats are allocated to Sales employees. The criteria for P club is also very straight forward if you are in sales. For non-sales roles you are fighting with other departments (eg Ops, marketing, Sales Ops, Payroll) to get a P club seat and the criteria isn't as straightforward. I can tell you from my experience it really wasn't based on merit -Lack of career advancement opportunities for roles outside of Sales. The company doesn't do a great job with career development for employees. They spend a lot of time talking about the tools (successfactors) but not enough on building a framework for managers to have these discussions -Rampant nepotism at this company. There are managers, senior managers, directors that don't deserve to be in them. If you are an overachiever this can be discouraging to move up in the company because it isn't based on your performance or merit. -This company is very stingy when it comes to spending on employees. The company generates more than $1B in revenue but charges employees $20 for christmas party entry and additional cost if you want to bring a plus one. Not only that you only get 2 drink tickets, and if you are lucky you may be able to expense your ride home. Imagine working for a company that generates that much money but unwilling to splurge once a year for their hardworking employees -As mentioned above ELT is great, SLT not great and therefore not capable of executing company strategy well. The company recently underwent tech transformation as part of digital strategy but SLT members were incapable of execution and roll out was disastrous. -Long tenured employees at the company aren't the greatest to learn from. They just stick around cause their have their money invested in the company shares. So if you are young, driven, and ambitious you will be working for these folks to drive up the share price and cash out

- good mix of classroom, hand-on and on the job training. - While the training is challenging it’s definitely rewarding for those who are willing to go the extra mile and meet expectations. - The program is definitely structured in a way that prepares you to hit the ground running once in role. - Sense of accomplishment upon completion of program - Feel prepared and eager once training is complete - You can bring your dog to work, free food at least once a week, fun break room, young office
Cons
- 80 to 100 cold calls a day, cold calling is a necessary evil but gets significantly easier once you're out of role and have a book of business - Metrics can be a little much at times during training
- Current Employee★★★★★
Cheap company - Pay so little and expect so much from you!!!!!!!!
Jan 23, 2009 - in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Casual attire, take you dog to work, fun working environment, young crowd, occasionally paid meals, gifts, perks, social events, freebies, flexible around taking personal time off, not micro -managing employees
Cons
If you are only satisfied with just beer cart and take your dog to work, then go ahead and join softchoice. This company is just so stingy - paying people like crap and expect you to have tons of input and come up with solutions that make the company. This is why it has such a high turnover rate. People aren't gonna settle for that little income and that little yearly raise.
