I worked at Softvision full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Typical IT company running almost 100% on staff augmentation business model that also for single client. Excellent company for those who are technical and want to give up any sort of career growth by staying on same position, pay scale and project for years after years. Company has very limited transit done in any aspect to Softvision or Cognizant yet.

    Cons

Whole company is dedicated to only one client. After acquisition original founder is now full time employee of that client, while other founder was already ex-employee of that client and still driving entire Arrow for them. Hence everything is defined and controlled by that client. High degree of favoritism, silent politics & bias management standards. Selected six seven people are controlling everything. Some...

  3. "Recruiter has little knowledge of data science, data scientists and client."

I have been working at Softvision full-time

      Pros

      None that I could see.

      Cons

In my opinion, the recruiter appears to have little knowledge of data science, data scientists and the client.

      Advice to Management

      Hire knowledgeable recruiters.

I worked at Softvision full-time for less than a year

      Pros

A good portfolio of clients and several interesting accounts. The company was continuing to grow (body count) and expand (technology offering).

      Cons

With growth, it is difficult to manage change.

      Advice to Management

It had, at one point, a good business development & consulting arm but was not leveraging wins from this group into larger deals.

      I worked at Softvision full-time

      Pros

There are no pros really, what you may think it's a pro, it's basically a lie when they do the recruiting process, nothing that was promised while interviewing actually happened. In fact the only pro is they always pay you on time.

      Cons

Lack of organization and very poor or non existing management, communication is terrible, and not even talk about the on-boarding process. They are expecting you to perform with no context, training or explanation of your job duties, but also they only focus on revenue and numbers, quality is completely out of their vocabulary. Be ready to sell or be fired, and if you're technical be ready to be fired as well if you...

      Advice to Management

Focus more on quality and knowing your employees, be more human and respect your people. Be fair when you evaluate your employees and hire the right management, not because the way they talk but because the things they do. Too many talkers.

      I worked at Softvision

      Pros

For those who telecommute, there's flexibility to make this job experience what you want it to be, provided you can maintain a great relationship with the clients and show them that you've got their back and also be honest with them about deliverables, expectations, etc... . There seems to be potential for success within Softvision for people who are really clear on what skills-path they want to take.

      Cons

The layers of structure within Softvision multiplied by the client's organizational layers make effective communication difficult sometimes, especially when there are multiple masters to serve, so to speak. Softvision seems to be going through some growing pains.

I have been working at Softvision full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Good at managing widely distributed teams. Competitive pay and benefits. Training opportunities. No commute and minimal travel.

      Cons

Lots of turnover in management. No clear path for advancement. Hourly billing with poor time tracking tools. Poor scope control on some projects.

      Advice to Management

The pool of good clients is limited. To grow our business, we need to get better at managing bad clients, clients with constrained budgets and poor decision-making skills. We should invest in training to help bad clients become good clients. We should also develop ready-made products with defined options for customization. If a client does not want to use something ready-made, we should not commit to a fixed budget, requirements,...

I worked at Softvision full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Co-workers were top-notch--helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, experienced. 100% telecommuting, if you're in the right projects.

      Cons

Communication from management to engineers was never great, but it went from merely negligent to actively adversarial overnight. They decided to pit teams against each other by soliciting project ideas from the senior engineers, secretly taking them to another team, and then doing everything in their power to keep most of said engineers from finding out about the redesign project. Then to add insult to injury, they took...

      Advice to Management

Stop spitting in the face of all the people you made so much money off of for years. You might still need a few of them to keep the platform running for a few more years. Above all, communicate more often and communicate better and stop treating senior developers as if they're an inconvenience.
