I have been working at Sogeti full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exposure to different projects and technologies.

    Cons

Very poor counselling and on boarding program. Operates more as glorified recruiting company rather than a consulting company. Placing a resource from one practice into another practice just so that they can clear the bench. Not very good with people management.

    Advice to Management

Most people (especially graduates) use Sogeti as a launching pad for their careers. Most people do not want to stay in the company as long as they are placed in a project. Company is not very people focused but only interested in revenue. They need to be more people focused and act more like a consulting company.

I worked at Sogeti (More than a year)

    Pros

Name recognition & some good delivery people

    Cons

Downtown location (bad traffic)/ Pressure to place bench consultants even when they're not necessarily a good fit for the project

    Advice to Management

Don't rely so heavily on full-time salaried consultants - add in W2 hourly and 1099 hourly consultants so there isn't such a bench liability when consultants are between projects.

I worked at Sogeti full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sogeti is a great company with plenty of opportunity. Consulting is not for everyone but for recent grads or folks early in their career the experience is a must. There are some good perks and everyone is very professional.

    Cons

Leadership can be very confusing. The good part of this is you can be your own leader and drive your career. The cons however is that it can be very difficult to be heard and drive change if you aren't in an actual leadership position. Account executives often don't have enough knowledge around consultants skillsets and can oftentimes limit the opportunities on an individual basis. Bench is an issue at times and sudden decisions can be made without warning and communication can be very difficult and oftentimes fruitless.

    Advice to Management

Build up your senior resources and invest in and encourage consultants who express interest in leadership.

I worked at Sogeti full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great potential to foster a diverse technical background. Opportunity to establish relationships with 3rd party companies which allow you to dive deep into different technologies. People are helful and do their best to collaborate.

    Cons

Very disorganized behind the scenes. There is no work life balance. You are required to build relationships on your personal time. You are required to be billable 40 hours, sponsor user groups and build the business and mentor others on your own time. Very little time to work on career growth.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of life work balance. Most individuals have to travel for the business and to have them have a better work/life balance will limit employee burn out.

I worked at Sogeti full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great place to start out your career.
    - Co-workers, although displaced at different client sites, want to mingle with each other.
    - Many co-workers are proud to be Sogetians.
    - Decent Benefits (401K, Healthcare, Tuition Reimbursement, etc.).
    - Good outreach programs and volunteer opportunities
    - Projects are typically 9-5, as they have a weird overtime payout
    - Limited risk in between projects. You get paid when you are on the bench.

    Cons

-You do A LOT of free work to try and 'advance your career' which ends up not helping in the end.
    - Impossible to get a bonus unless you sell. This is hard for developers who focus on their project. Bottom line: you can't move up until you bring in business. Why do you have AEs if you expect employees to do their job?
-Salary is below market value. Newer employees make more money than tenured employees. Loyalty does not mean anything to them.
    - Not a long-term place.

    Advice to Management

If you want to be seen like a ‘Deloitte’ or high-end consulting company, stop being so cheap with your employees. We know you change the bonus programs so you can benefit. We are not dumb, we can tell! You are a billion-dollar company. Act like it.

If you've noticed, there are only a few 'long-timers' at Sogeti. This should be a red flag. Those that stay are either complacent or not qualified for any other job. You rather let a good employee go then pay them more. Employees feel disposable, as the company has changed from pure consulting to a body shop.

I worked at Sogeti (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great folks to work with. Lit of opportunities to take responsibility and grow. Good national support. Training funds available but need to know how to get it.

    Cons

Operates like a staffing company. Very hard to get training dollars or for going to conferences. No career track, all depends on project you get sent to.

    Advice to Management

AEs talk to consultants to understand and help with career goals instead of just pushing the resume.
