I have been working at Sogeti full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of opportunities to learn and lead at Sogeti. Consultants need to be driven to succeed. One can greatly enhance their technical skills if they take advantage of all the free training and the $12K educational budget. Consultants can also learn about building teams, proposals, marketing and sales.

    Cons

If you're looking for a contracting 8-5 role, there is room for you. If you're looking to shine and grow, you'll have to work for it. Sogeti provides the growth framework but may not necessarily hold your hands to grow.

    Advice to Management

Solicit help and feedback from consultants.

I worked at Sogeti full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Quick recruitment process, back in 2007 it took a day and you'd get the decision on the same day.
    - Great starter training. 8 weeks of training whereas 3 weeks were in US.
    - Surrounded by helpful collagues
    - If you have pro-active attitude you could basically get any training you want.
    - Good benefits

    Cons

    - Low salary compared to the competitors

    Advice to Management

Your professionals / consultants are the keys in driving the company forward, always keep an eye of their need!

I have been working at Sogeti full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work-life balance, career growth and professional development opportunities, great people, top talent, client centric, very competitive benefits especially 401K and overall compensation potential, limited to no travel required depending on role, very flat/lean organization, leadership very accessible, people recognized as most important assets to the business, high potential program, community involvement/giving, women's inspirational network, exposure to new technologies and solution offerings, strong alliance partner ecosystem, cross practice collaboration

    Cons

Very flat/lean organization (an advantage but also a challenge at times), unit (city) maturity can vary

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in training and readiness for both sales and delivery on new technologies/solution offerings

I worked at Sogeti full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great 401k, good health benefits overall, free phone plan, usually capped at 40 hours per week per contracts with clients. Consulting is one of the best ways to get into the field of IT/Development especially if you are just graduating. You will work on projects and systems sometimes that you have never even heard of, but that is a good thing! Learning languages, tools, systems, and industries is crucial to becoming a well-rounded person. Don't be afraid to ask for help, but don't ever expect for someone to do your work for you. There is direct and clear responsibility for each consultant so don't try to hide, the client and Sogeti will know very quickly if you are faking or lying or lazy.

    Cons

With most consulting companies there is always an extra layer that is involved, and that layer is called sales. Most other types of companies have sales split into another division, but most consulting companies don't always have that. There are a few sales-oriented roles but they will constantly need help and technical advice when making proposals to future or existing clients. This is usually fine but just be aware that it is expected of you, and can directly impact things like bonuses, promotions, and career advancements. If you are fine being just a developer forever, don't expect to be made a manager or senior manager level resource. It requires the full spectrum.

    Advice to Management

Overall, I have to say that I do really think some of the people are doing their best and actually care. With that being said there are a few things that are lacking that people took notice of from time to time as well. Sometimes big changes aren't quickly communicated, or are communicated in a "Sorry not sorry" type of fashion pretty much saying tough luck. I understand the need for adjustment and changes of policy, but if you change the bonus structure every single year, it gets old. Make bonus and promotion requirements very clearly defined and remember that this is someones career and in a way, their life. If you dangle a bonus carrot in front of them and at the end of the year they get nothing because they didn't sell new work, or enough of it, it is very likely that it will upset them.

Consulting does have a high number of college hires and it should pretty much be expected that a sizable amount of them will jump around to different companies several times in the first 1-5 years because that is a good way to gain experience with a more diverse set of technologies vs what you would see working just in once place.

If an employee makes something very clear to you (management), that is generally because they mean it. If you brush it off like it doesn't matter or think will just pass with time, you might find that to come back to haunt you down the road and have unhappy employees.

I have been working at Sogeti full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Focused on innovation and DevOps in terms of customer offerings and put these into practice themselves at Sogeti UK.
Have received a lot of support from all areas of the business and feel very comfortable talking to everyone in the office; including upper management.
Have progression opportunities laid out and very clear plan for advancement of employees.

    Cons

Dealing with a very technical subject, which means that it is hard to pick up all the knowledge. This means that it can get quite confusing for new starts.

    Advice to Management

Keep the culture the same and keep pushing the integration of different departments, teams and employees.

    Pros

Work with first-class professional colleagues for well-known clients. Sogeti is a small company within the Capgemini Group, so we combine the advantages of a small, friendly firm with the resources of an international giant

    Cons

Clients are spread across the UK so don't join if you're not able to travel.

I have been working at Sogeti full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent career and growth opportunities for those who are proactive, have good ideas and seek them. The people are smart, driven, and like to have fun at work too. The tenure of key folks at many levels is extraordinarily high, which speaks volumes about the company. 150% 401K match up to 6%. Health benefits better than most these days. This is the first year that employees have had to pay anything at all for health insurance for themselves or their families.

    Cons

No downside from my perspective, but you do need to be accountable, persistent, have a can do and team mentality and own your career here if you want to be truly happy, but that's the type of individual we want and try to hire here for the most part anyway, though you will find some with a contractor, 40 hours / week mentality; and there's room for some of that still.

    Pros

Great benefits, competitive salary, opportunity to learn through a variety of fun and different assignments. The people I work with are fantastic.

    Cons

Consultant work has its drawback in general. Actionable feedback is difficult to track down. Their system for promotions & bonuses are a bit clunky. Sales is a part of the job.

    Advice to Management

Please provide actionable, frequent and targeted feedback to your employees. Please look at revisiting the promotion and bonus structures.
