I have been working at Sojitz Corporation of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Interesting work
    International company
    Multicultural environment
    Good location

    Cons

    Disconnected leadership
    Poor communication
    Poor managers
    Limited room for career growth

    Advice to Management

Depending on where you are in the company, the environment can be very toxic. There are a couple yellers and a lot more managers who don't appreciate the workers. I advise senior management to intervene when employees complain about abusive managers. Don't dismiss complaints and let people sort things out themselves.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Exposure to a wide range of business and product lines: apparel, textiles, chemicals, minerals, food, forestry and communications.

    Cons

It is a Japanese trading company. The culture is very different for an American. Communication is an enormous problem.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees better. Manage projects better. Think through consequences.

    Pros

Cross Cultural Development all around the Globe.

    Cons

Lack of support from top management and lack of definition in the roles of each employee.

Must be more open minded to evolve and compete in the new world.
