    Negative Outlook

I worked at Solar Gard (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The parking lot is fenced and gated. The offices are climate controlled. There are bathroom facilities for men and women.

    Cons

The numbers get worse every year, but the leadership remains the same. New additions to the management quickly learn to play ball with the old guard. Senior leadership has no concept of basic business administration, and the bottom line shows it.

    Advice to Management

The current leadership should quit and try a new career in a different industry. The place could be better run by MBA students from State.

I worked at Solar Gard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some do want change, but the masses are working against them.

    Cons

A few old timers did not take a liking to me and I was quickly black-balled. I had a target on my back and had no other option than to leave the company.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at your middle managers - at review time, etc. Take the opportunity to do skip level meetings to gauge morale.

    Pros

Bonuses are paid, even when the company is not doing well

    Cons

Mass exodus of employees, either thru layoffs or on their own.
There are much better companies out there to work for.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Good brand, quality and recognition, good people in most areas, result driven.

    Cons

Too lean, insurance is expensive, manufacturing needs to get back in shape, no accountability when problems occur, middle management does not talk to each other or work together, to much pressure for nothing sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Need to regroup and focus on the problems, there is potential to be great but to many things that are not making sense. Management and HR should focus on preparing individuals.

I worked at Solar Gard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice people, intelligent and hard working individuals who really care about the company. Comfortable working environment where departmental politics are virtually non existent. Talented sales reps and company is a leader in the business. Profitable despite themselves.

    Cons

Company has been bought and sold too many times. Management does not care about their employees. Manufacturing operations are not streamlined and shortages of product especially in busy season are ridiculously low. Poor planning. No place to advance or upward career potential.
