Excellent opportunities if you ask the right people and have a good attitude. Very safe working environment. Lots of care towards employee happiness.

I have been working at Solar Turbines full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Job stability, career development opportunities, global footprint.

      Cons

While the benefits package is decent, the actual pay is a bit below par. Company claims to have a "small company mindset" but is clearly burdened with corporate bureaucracy that slows down positive change more often than not and causes some underperformers to become entrenched and unmanageable.

      Advice to Management

Increase the pay scale. Prioritize people over corporate bottom line and share buy backs.

I have been working at Solar Turbines full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

Great work life balance. Very little micromanagement.

      Cons

Used to have fantastic health care. Moving around is the only way to get fair compensation and promotions. Experienced people that stay in the same position are taken advantage of or neglected. Extremely political and divisive, who you know gets you & your ideas ahead. Merit is a secondary/tertiary matter.

      Advice to Management

Make sure all engineers believe in science & math.

I have been working at Solar Turbines full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Pays the bills, Bonus when it is paid, used to have great culture so maybe it will come back

      Cons

All the narrative is around anti-male, pro women, LGBT, and they are alienating parts of their workforce. Management calls this diversity and inclusion which if it was, it would be driven to lift all employees up and not push any down. Narrative is getting old. Are people being placed in roles because of gender or race? Or because they are the best candidate?

      Advice to Management

Stop lifting select groups up by pushing others down, be a general proponent of your people.
