I have been working at SolarCity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    no micro management
good benefits ( dental, vision ) + other perks
    nice employees
    famous brand

    Cons

Just so you know, all " negative" reviews that you read here are true!
    no room for growth
all about numbers, so could be stressful
no real training ( the script that they use is horrible !!! )
you can get fired at any time ( even the upper management who've been with a company for a few years can get fired. saw it myself !! )
    low pay!!!
unfair commission structure!! if you don't meet the quota ( which is hard to meet ) you get $0
a lot of pressure from your manager ( that calls you text you every other hour to "motivate" you to get more appointments )
in general, they train you to be a dog, all they want from you is to ask every other person if he/she wants to schedule an appointment , that's it! I am very surprised to read here that some people have learned a lot ... like what??? don't mean to be rude, but what's your IQ? As an FES you don't learn anything at all! Everything is basic, you schedule an appointment and that's it! They don't even want you to know how solar works/benefits/numbers and etc ... with all those fancy position's name it's just the illusion .. that you are important . I'd put neutral rating on this company ( maybe some people are satisfied with that ) but in general I would not recommend working for this company.

I worked at SolarCity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Loved the flexibility which faded very fast. Depending on your manager you could face micro managing.

    Cons

Poor management upkeep. Unequal values within the company

    Advice to Management

Learn to value people by their skill set and content of character

I have been working at SolarCity full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Get to travel all across the state and meet with homeowners who are interested in solar. Company car, you control hours you work. No micromanagement, you own your success or failure.

    Cons

Difficult sell in CT when most people have unrealistic expectations. Those who understand why and what they're getting become your best friend.

    Advice to Management

Stick fuel the company and maybe everyone else will too.

I worked at SolarCity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Compensation improved recently and better technology recently (last 6 mos.)

    Cons

Sales process and overall product offering are lacking. Mid management is retained despite poor performance while qualified sales generators and sale people are treated like they are disposable. They still have a business model based on "the good old days" of solar when it is a completely different industry. No exit interview after 2+ yrs with the company shows they will continue to make the same mistakes which is bad for everyone associated with the company including shareholders. $250 commission for a solar roof sale. Laughable.

    Advice to Management

Directors and RSMs are more interested in hiring and hooking up with cute female employees than doing their jobs. Get some accountability for yourselves and stop blaming everything on your subordinates.

I worked at SolarCity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Local manager was great to work for, company culture was pleasant. Commissions were good as well.

    Cons

Base salary was subpar, unstable company direction trickled down to FECs in terms of which quotas actually mattered, expectation setting.

    Advice to Management

Be clear with new hires from day 1 about exactly what they need to do to keep their job.

I worked at SolarCity (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Can help others develop as a manager.the manager position allowed for deviation to help others become successful if you have the right manager above you.

    Cons

The company eliminated my position only in my state. They let we go after high sales and customer service production from me and my team. I was consistently on the top of the sales scoreboard and the company let me go without any warning or notice despite the fact that my team and I were performing at a high level.

    Advice to Management

Keep you resume up to date, there is no job security anywhere in the company despite performance.

    Pros

Plenty of overtime and freedom within positions

    Cons

A lot of repetitive sales pitches from a booth

    Advice to Management

Good experience with lower end management. Upper end was a bit too cut throat.
