I worked at Soledad Enrichment Action part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The ability to build relationships of trust with staff and students...gaining knowledge and understanding of numerous children from different cultural backgrounds .

    Cons

Implementing behavior expectations, wasn't always a success, things took time for students to adjust, precisely because students did not want to follow the behavioral expectations knowing that it took away certain privileges.

    Advice to Management

    Implement more consequences for disobedience

I worked at Soledad Enrichment Action part-time

    Pros

The hours are decent beginning at 8am to early 2:00pm. The school has a small staff which forces coworkers to be collaborative since school sites are managed individually without regular oversight from administration. Decent health packet with counseling perk if (no when you require it). Opportunity to connect and gain great insight into the plight of at-risk adolescents. If you are pursuing behavioral science, adolescence counseling or any field along those line this place is the best place to do research. Very smart and helpful staff for the most part.

    Cons

The company has ambitious goals but ineffective execution due to lack of dedication & care within their inner administration. There is a true disconnect between the plight of teaching staff and the administration which is wholly disregarded on a normal basis. The working environment with at-risk teens is Very dangerous since most of the sites do not have security whatsoever or rely on teachers to act as disciplinary guards. Small working environment with overcrowded classrooms & lack of teaching resources. Students are unruly as to be expected but no disciplinary action besides very slow expulsion should be expected. Stress, anxiety and a overall feeling of danger is what you should come to expect working with this company. The company is stuck in a time warp believing they can resolve students with new age issues with 1980 methodology.
