I have been working at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great discount.. That's about it.

    Cons

I realized that I couldn't possibly have a career with this company after watching the DM interact with my store manager.. I have never seen the kind of malicious and hateful behavior that this woman displayed.. It was like watching some one give a pit bull a bone.. The DM obviously doesn't believe in mentoring and teaching someone how to be the best that they can be. She would rather bully and intimidate, and hope that the minions fall in line, than take time to train coach and build a successful team. Our DM is snarky, rude, and acts out of emotions, rather than taking the time to be a true team leader.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to mentor, to be a role model. Take the time to be someone your workers respect rather than fear.. Be good to the people that care.

I have been working at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you're looking for a job that requires very minimal responsibility, this is perfect! The company is extremely micro-managed and the clients coming in the store are coming in specifically for sunglasses so selling is simple.

    Cons

Extremely boring. If you're used to a retail environment and are looking for a break, this is perfect. But you will get cabin fever.

    Advice to Management

Solstice/Safilo have to look at the big picture and realize that Luxottica/Sunglass Hut almost monopolize the sunglass industry. I don't see Solistice/Safilo surviving in the long run.

I worked at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques full-time

    Pros

One is the leader in the store and has very little supervision from top management.

    Cons

No upward mobility, lack of structure. Poor allocations department leaves stores without sellable merchandise. Purchasing department needs a tune up with the styles and agreements that they settle from designer. Purchasing department doesn't have the frontline experience to stay ahead of the trends.

    Advice to Management

Top management needs to look to frontline for advice on what the end customers truly are looking for. Very decentralized organization.

    Pros

The interaction with customers was enjoyable for the most part.

    Cons

The guidelines to perform quality customer service went against how associates should really perform in order to get results.

    Advice to Management

Properly walk your employees through the guidelines and not penalize them when things don't go accordingly.

    Pros

A lot of down time. Not too many costumers so you can relax and just sit down and do nothing.

    Cons

You don't get many hours. Also the pay isn't very good either. The company doesn't really care about the workers, they're more focused on the amount of sunglasses you sale.
