I have been working at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great discount, bonus structure and incentives. Laid back environment that stems from a sales driven culture. Hourly full-time pay, minimal tasking and grunt work means a decent work-life balance. This company is undergoing changes within it's corporate structure in attempts to improve it's overall business. As a Store Manager, you are encouraged to delve into every aspect of your business and truly own it, though that is likely dependent on your DM.

    Cons

Stores are low volume in general, so payroll is very low and can be challenging to schedule appropriately for the weekends. Low volume stores also do not have an Assistant Manager or another full-time manager, making it difficult to retain top talent. Pay is low for a SM, but is much better if you make your numbers and bonus accordingly. Low inventory levels can make it near impossible to hit your sales goals. There is a lot of theft and fraud associated with this particular industry.

    Advice to Management

Raise the pay for SM so there is ability to hire more experienced candidates needed to run the stores at the level needed to be successful, especially in high volume doors. Make sure to replenish stores quickly who have made their sales goals for the month with product that they actually need, not miscellaneous mish-mashed assortments that seem like they were thrown into a box haphazardly.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Upper management often solicits and encourages the field to offer their ideas about the business to help continue progress or find resolve to current issues/road blocks.

    Cons

In a ever-competitive environment, the company will need to find a quicker and more uniquely-exclusive way to pull away from our competitors so that we become and remain the retailer of choice; combining great service with great product offerings.

    Advice to Management

The field is the true pulse and the heart of the company. Continue to keep your eyes and ears open to them as some of the best ideas and resolves are a call or visit away.

    Pros

Great perks, great atmosphere and great co-workers. Really enjoyed the holiday time as well. Learned great merchandising skills.

    Cons

Usually worked alone which would be great if commission was available, but could be really really boring when the mall was dead and all other tasks were finished.

    Advice to Management

Invite everyone to various events to help customer service skills, sales skills, product knowledge, etc.

    Pros

The staff, the company itself is quite great, and everyone is easy going and helpful.

    Cons

I think the background check was the only excruciating part. Pretty much it I have no complaints.

    Advice to Management

Please update your salaries, I thought I would be paid 12-14 $ per hour, kind of got said when I didn't, but it's still good money, and oh! Give more hours.
