I have been working at Sonesta International Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working in the Corporate office, you have the chance to interact with the leadership of the company. The culture is very supportive and creates an open door atmosphere to share and communicate with every person at any level.

    Cons

I am not sure I would call it a Con but we are growing and with growth you have growing pains. The good news is we are moving in the right direction, hiring top talent to help build and shape the company as we continue to grow.

I have been working at Sonesta International Hotels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Comfortable and very nice locations, Co-workers are outstanding people, wonderful opportunity to learn and improve skills.

    Cons

Workload is unrealistic even for a skilled person, low work/life balance, company is extremely slow to improve and provide tool needed to make workload more bearable.

    Advice to Management

Need to balance the amount spent on proving hotels and how much is spent on internal improvement in equipment and processes. way to much could be improve with small free programs and tools that would significantly reduce workload and effort.

I have been working at Sonesta International Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, caring management, good benefits. Overall a great place to work if you are a team player.

    Cons

Housekeeping faces many challenges from lack of housekeepers to having to work outside in weather that's anywhere from below 0 to 100 degrees outside.

    Advice to Management

Consider paying housekeepers more then other local hotels as they face many more challenges then the average housekeeper.

I have been working at Sonesta International Hotels full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good working environment. Flexible schedules. Good costumer base. Regular everyday costumers because, it is an extended stay hotel so the guest are really nice.

    Cons

Terrible pay. They hire contractors for housekeeping, basically people that don't know how to speak English and, get payed under the table. The managers and supervisors don't care about you. High turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Try to accosiate with all of their co-workers. Obviously anyone is going to say raise the pay but in this case it's a must when people that have been working there for over 10 years are only getting payed below $10.

I worked at Sonesta International Hotels full-time

    Pros

Free meal, free parking for most staff

    Cons

Hotel is still very much in transition, new corporate owners are pushing out the "old guard", management is busy doing damage control trying to save themselves.

I worked at Sonesta International Hotels part-time

    Pros

    A lot of downtime
-Easy to get into without much work experience
-You're valued--at least relative to other jobs I've had and fields I've been in--if you're a good employee and do a good job, possibly leading to quick promotions and/or raises
-You interact with a lot of interesting people
-You get a lot of interesting/funny stories out of it
    -You help people

    Cons

When it's busy, it's really busy. You're either bored to tears or you have more people to help than you can handle. It's almost like people know when other people need the front desk and all call or come at the same time.
-A lot of hotels don't like to give you a stable schedule that doesn't change from week to week and want you to work almost any shift
    -Rude and/or unrealistic guests
-Problems that are beyond your control, but you have to answer for them with the guest

    Advice to Management

Be open to learning new things. The hotel industry has a large history of providing great opportunities to those who want them. However, in order to really benefit from these opportunities, you have to take some time to really consider how you are going to benefit from things. In order to ensure that this is the right job for you, it is a good idea to think about your own personal learning style. Do you enjoy learning while talking to people and actually engaging in some hands on experience? If so, you will typically find that a good job is possible for you in the hotel business.

Up-sell bonuses are nice. Vacation days are ok. Hotel is centrally located. Free meal during shift. Other locations nationwide. Holiday grocery gift card.

    Cons

Management is very disorganized and rude. Housekeeping is not good. Wifi internet is terrible. No employee parking available. Promotions are NOT fair at all.

    Advice to Management

    Replace / Upgrade.
