I have been working at Sonoma State part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with students on their projects and labs is rewarding and fun. Plenty of enjoyable experiences and challenging work educating students and helping them out.

    Cons

Projects tended to be on tight time schedules and difficult to grasp. Expectations on how to assist students tended to be vague.

    Advice to Management

Provide instructors with layout and plan for how the project challenges students, and supply instructors with finished projects so that they may better understand what to expect from the students.

I have been working at Sonoma State full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The campus is beautiful and the community here is even better. I enjoy my work here and would stay long-term if only the pay was better.

    Cons

The pay is awful. I have been working full time at SSU for over a year, and I don't even make 40k. It's impossible to support myself off of this salary. Speaking to supervisors and HR doesn't help, because it takes HR ages to get anything done in the hiring department.

    Advice to Management

    Pay your employees better.

    Cons

Suggest for a on campus student job

    Advice to Management

Amazing flexibility, as well as a friendly staff

I have been working at Sonoma State full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible working hours, GREAT benefits. Entry level positions have room to grow.

    Cons

Unlivable pay for Sonoma County if you are a single-income household. After about 4 years there isn't much room to grow/get a raise, so it's not the ideal job for a single person who is new to their career. It would be a perfect place for someone with a young family who needs to have a flexible schedule and wants excellent health insurance.

Encourage more research by allowing professors to give more time to that arena.
