    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great lot to work on with nice perks for employees and excellent location in Culver City. High profile projects.

    Cons

Terrible corporate, top down structure. Lacks good leadership. Advancement within studio is awful. Huge generation gap hurting productivity.

    Advice to Management

Time to recognize that people under 40 are not wanting to do things the same way. Give youth a chance.

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time

    Pros

Nice benefits. Get to see plenty of movies. Exciting atmosphere working in the entertainment industry. Good opportunities for advancement. Excellent Sony employee purchase program for electronics.

    Cons

Stressful. Very large organization so it's common to feel disconnected. High turnover. Film industry is very cutthroat and everyone wants your job. Direct supervisor was difficult to work for but most execs in org we nice to work with.

    Advice to Management

Would suggest they protect email system better. Since the hack a few years ago, current and former employees have to live in fear that their personal info is compromised.

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time

    Pros

Nice culture, strong feeling of family. Lots of creative, talented people who are fun to collaborate with. Most full-time people get to participate in the annual bonus plan, which is unusual.

    Cons

SPE is a bit of a rudderless ship these days. The CEO has been here too long and should be replaced but Sony Corp in Japan refuses to cut him loose for some reason. The company has had a few years of poor performance and were we a publicly traded company, the CEO would never have been allowed to continue. Based on what we saw in the aftermath of the hack, he doesn't really want to be here anyway.

    Advice to Management

Reinvigorate the management ranks by hiring a new CEO. Morale is exceedingly poor right now and our financial performance is at the lowest levels its been since I've been here. Instead of going up, earnings have slowly tapered off. Japan shouldn't accept these results and take control of the situation by hiring a more capable senior team to run the business, one that can deliver results. The Company needs a strategic vision and a plan for achieving it. We have yet to see anything of the kind.

    Cons

Very corporate, political and hierarchical. Corporate legal department is very stale with poor management and no growth.
