I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time

    Pros

    Good benefits and nice lot

    Cons

The HR department does not respect the law - they respect the wishes of high level executives and will "position" their choices within the framework of untested law hoping it will fly. Discrimination is rampant and this is not a place for your career to shine if you are a woman - men will be heard, women get told to "lean in" more when they try to influence strategy. Management here think they are progressive - they are stuck in the stone ages

    Advice to Management

Wake up! It's the 21st century!

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time

    Pros

    - Under the Jeff Blake regime (Chairman), the studio was in it's heyday during the 21st Century. Great leadership.
    - Incredible history on the former MGM studio lot
    - Convenient location near restaurants, bars, stores in Culver City
    - Used to have award worthy films that employees were proud to work on.

    Cons

    - As of 2015, the new management has made life very difficult for employees.
    - Many people leaving or unceremoniously being pushed out.
    - This creates a toxic environment that even HR can't even control.

    Advice to Management

Per the phrase "The fish rots from the head down", a clean sweep of upper management is required.

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - It is good to start getting experience.
    - Good environment and people.
    - The new building is great! You have a nice cafe, nice bathrooms, stand up desks!

    Cons

    - I don't think there is a lot of room to grow. People have been in their positions for more than 10 - 15 years.
    - I think is good to start but it would be good to go to other companies after an internship to get more experience.

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun and talented group of people to work with.

    Cons

Steady pressure to relocate to Canada where salarys are lower and more regulated among similar studios. Recruiting not reliable with long term employment promises, contracts can be dropped at the first sign of a slow down.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at updating the pipeline and consolidating the tools.
