I have been working at Sony PlayStation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great People, LifeLong friendships!

    Cons

Management, Management, Management and the management. It's a really old-school business trying to exist in tech.

I have been working at Sony PlayStation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice atmosphere, passionate people, interesting projects, great location

    Cons

Salary is very low. Big company makes it hard to grow, and be part of the decisions. No nice company events, besides one annual offsite.

    Advice to Management

Stop being a blackbox and share. Raise salaries, the company is making loads of money any way.

I worked at Sony PlayStation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company is doing quite good revenue wise. Benefits are good and there are some game launch events.

    Cons

HR is full of Psychos! Unless you are a model, don't even bother to apply to playstation because HR is very good at body shaming employees especially women. HR folks should be ashamed of their lives for harassing employees.

    Advice to Management

Management should take disciplinary action against low level HR employees who are abusing their power and body shaming female employees. HR folks behave as if they can violate corporate policies and get away!

    Pros

Sony is a great company to work for. The employees are terrific and very collaborative. The casual dress code is a bonus. Benefits are amazing.

    Cons

This isn't really a negative but you will work hard - it's not 9-5.

    Pros

    Lots of parties
Work from home option (1-2 times/ week)
not lot of work pressure except holiday season

    Cons

No clear road map for technology
Teams are spread over different places
Outstanding performance has no relevance to promotion
Promotions are backfill based on if someone in management leaves the company
    Salaries are bay area average
No carpool benefit or company bus for commute

    Advice to Management

Kindly ensure all people have a career path and growth plan with some statistics
Start providing stock options to employee..they contribute to company growth and deserve it

I have been working at Sony PlayStation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    AAA Quality Projects

    Competitive Benefits

    Unique Work Environment

    Encourages Creativity

More Control of your tasks and creations

    Cons

Not much room for personal growth, the studio is very large .

It is not clear how certain individuals are promoted when comparing the amount of contributions other developers bring the studio.

Not much of an effort has been made to solidify art direction.

Lack of direction is also the result of allowing too much free will.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time and make more of an effort to find out who really is contributing real creativity, hard work, and innovation to this studio. Perhaps increase the number of broader peer reviews.

I worked at Sony PlayStation full-time

    Pros

Excellent benefits and focus on fun for the consumer

    Cons

It's a big company. Many changes in management styles / systems and bonus system changes every year (though generally for the better). Completely different experience working in SD vs. SF vs. San Mateo
