I worked at Sotera Defense Solutions full-time

    Pros

If you're desperate for a temp job, Sotera will do. If you're new and work cheap, they'll use you, at least for a time. When you gain any experience, though, they'll find an excuse to fire you. Your best bet is to obey without question until you can find something else.

    Cons

Everything else. Management doesn't care about the client, only profits. They'll do the minimum required under the contract, but suck up to the decision-makers in the finance/budget offices, so don't work for them if you care about what the client is doing. Because Sotera doesn't care about what the client accomplishes, they'll hire experienced people and keep them long enough to pick their brains and learn just enough. Then Sotera will start looking for any excuse to build a case to fire you. Misspell a word or have a dyslexic moment so your document has .01 instead of .10, and that's a warning. With that level of pressure, it doesnt take long for Sotera to either force you out or fire you. Then they hire someone else for half your salary and teach the new guy what you taught Sotera. It's bargain-basement work, but if it "meets standards," then Sotera doesn't care. It's not about top quality. It's about the lowest possible pay for the employees and the lowest quality they can get away with for the client.

    Advice to Management

Care about the client and the talent instead of about lining corporate pockets with more profits.

I worked at Sotera Defense Solutions full-time

    Pros

The benefits are great and you get your own computer equipment

    Cons

Poor training structure (needs to be improved now), not enough encouragement from management (they would rather write you up than show you how to do things correctly), office facility is bad (no paper towel in the bathroom, bathroom itself is too small, poor air circulation, no cubicles, no vending machines, weak kitchen area). Poor scheduling choices, short staff issues.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time on training people and less time on ruling with an iron fist. Every week there is an email or a meeting about what everyone is doing wrong, and then you're told if it happens again you'll be written up. Once you're in the dog house, you are permanently quarantined and sanctioned.

The company has undergone some changes, but they have a great team in place. They are poised to continue to exceed the market expectations. Really knowledgeable and friendly people !
