staff for the most part is friendly and easy to work with. otherwise, i struggle to find many pros

Awful salary and benefits package. Not competitive (an outside consultant compared such with other states and with the private sector, found that DHEC is not competitive, but nothing was done with the conclusions of the study). Complete disaster of organization and management. HIGH turnover. The office is drowning in work and will never catch up because they cannot hire and keep staff. Very discouraging and frustrating work environment because nothing is ever accomplished. Little room for promotion because positions are limited.

Every thing else besides work hours! Low pay, poor work environment, wrong people in leadership, no promotion potential, no transferable skills...etc

It's a fairly relaxed work environment where you have plenty of access to resources you need for effective data analysis and management.

While some of the department is working to implement better surveillance or clean up surveillance data that hasn't been used, the secondary data is fairly limited which is largely attributable to SC fiscal policy.

Dhec provides great benefits, competitive salaries, good work environment. The people are nice. It's a state job with retirement

I don't really see a downside. The hours are good. There are many locations in the charleston area. Some of the buildings are old and can be cold.
