    Negative Outlook

I worked at South Dakota State full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most of the students are friendly and willing to work fairly hard for a good grade.

    Cons

There is open discrimination of those who have disabities. There is extreme workload placed on those with Masters Degree so that those who are doctorally prepared can become tenured. Those who are doctorally prepared are expected to carry a heavy load also. There are those who document untruths on performance evaluations so that others resign.

    Advice to Management

Investigate when people resign but be sure to provide them protection from all administration or they are not going to bother.

I have been working at South Dakota State part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A good place to work part time as a student. Great management, fun engaging atmosphere. Most employees are also students and they are very flexible with work hours. You will also have many opportunities to meet people in the remote sensing industry.

    Cons

The pay is low and the benefits are none existent. This is also most likely a job that you can only work if you are a student at South Dakota State University. As a result there is a very high turnover rate as students graduate.

    Advice to Management

I really don't have much advice to give. I do however have to type at least 20 words for this website to consider this a review. So if you value your time I hope you didn't read this. I wonder how many words this is. Typing a few more for good measure...and done.

I worked at South Dakota State (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The faculty, staff, and research mentors all work closely with the students in not only research work but also preparation for presentations and written documentation. Research students are always given a schedule of events at the beginning of each week so that they know what to expect. On-campus housing and travel reimbursement is given at the beginning of the program. There is a research stipend. Overall it was a great research experience.

    Cons

I do not have any complaints from this program. There is a level of professionalism, kindness, and respect from the faculty to the research students that was greatly appreciated.
