I worked at South Shore Hospital (Weymouth) full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    A number of great colleagues
A lot of good, hardworking people who want to care for the community

    Cons

Changes over the last 9 months - 1 year have absolutely decimated the soul of South Shore

    Advice to Management

Remove the egos and politics. South Shore was a great place that grew quite well on its own. SSH by design was never a big academic hospital in Boston and is no place for the politics that have been brought in.

Also, you need to realize the impact of the chaos inherent in the current management structure and what its doing to the good, hardworking employees who bend over backwards for the people of the South Shore. Focus on what is important: the colleagues you have and the patients you serve. This mindset has been completely lost on the new administration.

I have been working at South Shore Hospital (Weymouth) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working in the hospital in a clinical position is great. Teamwork, sense of comradery and high medical standards but the IT department needs a lot of work

    Cons

EPIC department and IT Department. This is a horrible department to work in. In the past year, 8 analysts have resigned. Management is not concerned at all with patient safety or employee satisfaction

    Advice to Management

Realize that there is something wrong with management if employees are dropping like flies.

I worked at South Shore Hospital (Weymouth) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked at the South Shore Hospital for about two years. In the beginning the job was not so bad. The benefits were good but, not a good enough reason to stay.

    Cons

As time went on and I became FT, I started to see cliques in the department. The head lead would get away with being mean, two-faced, and bullied me constantly. Other coworkers would notice too. When I would bring the bullying up to the manager he would just say she's jealous....and barely did anything. She made my experience there horrible and it affected me mentally, emotionally and physically. HR said she had been reported before for bad behavior, and still didn't do anything although they said they would, even when I showed concrete evidence of bullying. Favoritism is very high in this hospital. I am very glad I left such a hostile work environment. I do check in sometimes with my friends who still work there. Nothing has changed.

    Advice to Management

The favoritism should stop. Actually, listen to what your employees have to say. Also, If a employee has a history of bullying, and you are shown concrete evidence, get rid of rid of the problem and not let the rest of the employees suffer. Yes, that employee still works there and has never apologized for her actions. If you continue to keep toxic people in your work place, you will loose your employees that actually work hard and they will slowly but surely look elsewhere for a job.
