I have been working at SouthComm Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    -Autonomy
-Great PTO package (over 20 days off per year, but doesn't roll over)
-Exceptional content management system, but does come with some frustrations because built in-house

    Cons

-Some difficulty with shared services and support staff. Great to work with, but can be difficult to organize projects due to availability and staff shortages
-Severe lack of marketing department and direction for publications. Must heavily rely on editorial and sales staff to initiate many marketing projects

    Advice to Management

Provide a more corporate culture to engage your employees.
Hire a more substantial HR department that can provide assistance with hiring and employee relations
Hire more support staff - including digital team, graphics and marketing

    Pros

A hold of local DC. Some good events. Some of the people

    Cons

Company is stale and just milking the system to pay bloated corporate salaries. No innovation. Turn over is very high. May close down soon.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue. Think of new ideas. Spend money to grow.

    Pros

My co-workers were the best part of this job. The company is filled with talent and there is a lot of flexibility and independence in the day to day work schedule.

    Cons

    Pay raises are almost non-existent

    Pros

Good mid-level opportunity for aspiring B2B editors.

    Cons

Pay is poor: former Cygnus management emerged from bankruptcy with a cut-cost mentality that has seen no raises in literally years.

    Advice to Management

Stop taking advantage of hard-working employees; reward them, instead, for their dedication and loyalty!

I have been working at SouthComm Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Provides benefits and PTO
Flexible schedule based on life's appointments

    Cons

No respect for anyone except upper management
No raises (not even cost of living)
    Disorganized
More worried bringing in money then the people at the bottom making it happen
    Rewarding the wrong employees
    Poor management staff
    No problem with poor moral

    Advice to Management

Remember/Reward the employees that fulfill promises, not just management or sales. Re-evaluate the company and be sure to make necessary changes to achieve the Core Values.

    Pros

Great people. Good products. Nice events

    Cons

CEO is weak and has no business knowledge. Company is on the verge of going under. Leadership does not want to change. Definite boys club. There have been some solid people that came through and wanted to make positive changes, but they all left.

    Advice to Management

Sell to someone who can actually run it.

    Pros

Most of the people are pretty friendly...with a few being real a**holes. Pretty relaxed work environment and it can be fun, at times. Convenient location.

    Cons

Too much drama and too many chiefs...many of whom really don't know what they are doing. Constant turnover. Unless you have the choice accounts, you don't make any money.

    Advice to Management

Raise pay, quit making it a little Susan Club, learn what you are doing.
