I have been working at Southeast Missouri State University part-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

    - Get paid to learn new skills - Free coffee - Fantastic and competent co-workers

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Don't just barge into decisions blindly. You have access to people that have been around the university much longer than you and a large student body. Talk to them for advice/suggestions. Communicate.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Southeast Missouri State University part-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

My work life started and finished here as a student worker for 3 different departments, so I don't have anything to compare it with as of now. But it was a great place to work for.

    Cons

I can think of none except for they pay minimum wage even when you've worked for three and a half years. No wage increase.

    Advice to Management

Please take care of your students and their mental well being.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Southeast Missouri State University full-time

    Pros

Stability, fair discount on education, good life/work balance depending on position. Good for working while getting degree but then get out for better job opportunities and advancements.

    Cons

Low/poor salary compared the job market unless Administrative and Executive Staff, few opportunities for advancement unless you sell your soul, to many unethical hiring practices, overworked staff, extremely unhealthy culture caused by recent budget cuts forcing a current major University wide restructure (many layoffs).

    Advice to Management

Evaluate salary for all entry-intermediate level staff, rethink fairness, much more transparency including personnel searches.
