I have been working at Southeastern Grocers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly and passionate people who are committed to being a leader in the market. Deliberate commitment to changing the culture ensuring our associates and customers can always count on us. Opportunities to think differently and innovate in a rapidly changing market.

    Cons

Focused a lot on cost controls (not a bad thing) having just come out of bankruptcy. Risk of focusing only on the short term versus longer range strategies.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to our customers and associates and continue challenging everyone to think about delivering on our results in different ways.

I have been working at Southeastern Grocers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Works very well with personal problems.
Willing to cross train in other areas.

    Cons

Hard to get a set shift.
Extremely difficult to get a pay increase.

    Advice to Management

Other places are willing to pay more for our employees so it would be more beneficial to give raises based on time and performance.

I have been working at Southeastern Grocers full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There really aren’t any Pros anymore

    Cons

No hours for associates, customer service is not a priority, Managememt Chase’s paper and reports instead of focusing on customers and processes. Micro management by District Managers causes poor morale. Text messages while on days off and vacation were detrimental. Bonus program is pretty much impossible to hit. The more hours cut the more customers lost, it’s a cycle that will kill Southeastern Grocers.

    Advice to Management

Live by your ways of being, it’s not only Store Managers down. District management does not care passionately and do not put people first.

    Pros

    Great hardworking people in workforce!

    Cons

Poor Management, Do not put people first!, Don't back up what they preach! Continuing to layoff even though the CEO has stated they are fit for purpose.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of everyone in management and running the business. There is a reason you have filed bankruptcy multiple times. Same people managing the failing business for too many years that control the finanaces.

    Pros

Great company with great CEO. Management is good depending on store and people you work with

    Cons

Management can get a little over there heads. District Managers don't do a great job with connecting with associates.

I worked at Southeastern Grocers part-time

    Pros

When you start they give you good hours

    Cons

Woo well I started off fine then they moved me to a new department I didn't like and I told them this and the manager of my department sais I can more when they hire someone new I can go back. 3 Not-so-new employees latee nevwe happened. They cut my hours hard I started at 18hours a week and as a part time job that's not too bad. Then for 2 months I was at one day a week for 4 maybe 6 hours making terrible pay I told them this and they gave me two days a week for a full maybe 8 hours I might leave early because there's nothing to do.

    Advice to Management

Please mangers listen to me when I tell you I hate this department I liked where I was before and hate where you stuck me at.

I have been working at Southeastern Grocers part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It’s a great way to start. As a first job this company grants you fantastic skill building opportunities.

    Cons

Your hard work, dedication, and seniority dose not really mean much. Pay raise is horrible and your hourly pay is extremely low.

    Advice to Management

Certain positions should get higher pay. And constant promotions should be taken into consideration. I was moved into office work in less than a year working with the company, and I started off as a simple cashier. My pay didn’t even go up $0.20 an hour.

I worked at Southeastern Grocers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

What I did love about working here is that they properly train you in your department of work before and while you work. Also, most employees and management were friendly and fair.

    Cons

Management in store had hard time keeping up with every department and some times schedules were ruined. On top of everything, the store could not make enough sales to stay in business.

    Advice to Management

    Store currently out of business.
