Reviews about "senior managers"
Return to all Reviews- Former Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
Good flexibility, very friendly and highly capable coworkers. A friendly place to work despite the poor organisation.
Cons
Management is extremely poor and it would seem that senior management prefer middle managers to be inexperienced as opposed to being well established specialists within their field of the business. This is appalling and a driver for valuable and experienced staff to leave the Company. Career progression opportunities are very unclear.

Pros
Great co workers, atmosphere and CSR
Cons
Senior managers are slow to make decisions, Needs a shake up in management and to evolve into a modern company
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
I work with some good people
Cons
Heads of department completely lacking in integrity - lying to protect their own jobs. Trying to find a director on a Friday or after 4.30pm is like the the search for the holy grail. Lazy, self centred senior management who have no idea how to run the company or their departments but will do anything to make sure they get their bonuses. Management is by bullying and dictatorship. Luckily I have got a new job and will be leaving soon.

Pros
Lots of potential for improvement, nice people to work with and Location.
Cons
Appetite to change at the highest levels but No appetite to change through the organisation, lots of people saying they want to but not many people actually accepting or adapting to change. The people that don’t want to change are just there to coast. It’s close to home for them and easy work with little to no performance management. Lack of investment Lack of opportunity and development Too many directors and senior managers. No clear decision making.

Pros
Nice people, improving work environment, good parking
Cons
Arrogant Senior Managers, constantly changing business requirements

Pros
I can’t think of any
Cons
Where shall I start! I was a supervisor in customer services fighting for the staff to no avail. Caught in middle desprately trying to make things better and constantly trying to shield staff from the worst. Bullying, favouritism, witchhunts, pressure to work extra hours not at your convenience, lots of people pressured to opt out of EU laws on working hours, lots of stressed people but lip service and tick box exercises carried out to 'prove' compliance with EU health, mental health etc laws. Less and less workers paid less and less, more and more senior managers etc on bonus contracts screwing staff so they get it. IT from the 80's still in place. They pay contractors, who mostly have 'friends' on the Board, exhorbitent amounts of money, they then mess up and leave staff to sort it out. Constant micromanaging, no trust, call centre staff especially treated like kids at school failing assessments for the smallest mistake. Now find out all customer staff to be made redundant on statutory terms, but managers etc done ok out of it or been promoted elsewhere to mess up other parts of business. The poor staff on the ground trodden on yet again.

Pros
Lots of complex systems. Lots to do.
Cons
Too many senior managers who don't know how to run IT Programmes. General culture of nastiness.
- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Decent salary for the area, free car park.
Cons
This is the most soul destroying place I have ever worked. Constant restructures, 3 in a 12 month period now. Staff in tears all the time. Massive long term sickness due to company. Staff pulled in so many directions, with no training. Good people leave because they know they can do better, bad people stay. Everyone wants to leave , everyone is job hunting. Middle and Senior management are useless and there's no planning. Southern lurch from one bad decision to another and management have not got a clue about anything. Yes the salary might be a few K higher than other employers in the area, but it is NOT WORTH IT. DO NOT WORK HERE.

Pros
Company is trying to improve areas where where there are problems. New CEO recently appointed, so shake-up likely in some areas that need improvement. Opportunities for good people to make their mark and progress. Interesting and varied work, providing a vital service to local community and environment. Pay and benefits are competitive.
Cons
IT has been a mess for a long time, and planned upgrades are long overdue. Some of the senior management team are ineffective and do not support their staff enough. Culture of promoting "yes-men" in some directorates rather than the most capable managers.
