Pros

I feel valued and cared about. Employees' health and well being is important. Have a good work life balance and there are lots of opportunities for career progression. CEO now has regular Q&;A sessions, so it's great to have an understanding of what's going on. Friendly environment. Nice offices and good coffee in the staff canteen. Happy working here.

Cons

Processes and systems of communication could be improved. Sometimes have to ask several people what the process for something is and get several different answers, or nobody knows. IT sometimes frustrating and slow. Pay structure seems to be inconsistent. People in same job being paid different salaries, not always for any obvious reason and salary offered for new roles often less than advertised in the job description.

Pros

Southern Water is a very friendly company to work in with some exceptionally talented people who are passionate about their roles and the value water plays in the lives of everybody. They offer good learning opportunities, good socials and have a very modern approach to Work-Life Balance.

Cons

It is a typical utilities company and things can take a while to change but there is a real desire to change things for the better now and green shoots are starting to appear but we now need to grow them to develop.

Generally treat staff well, good team spirit, managers are fair in approach, do not use coercive tactics. Company appreciative of work life balance

Extreme bureaucracy and hierarchy for a medium sized company Not all staff motivated to be productive or delivery focused Appears to be strong culture of absenteeism in some areas High workload and limited strategic planning capability
