    Pros

The company has great medical insurance and 401 k program Also. During Covid pandemic, the organization provided training to all employees and there was the opportunity to work from home. As of today, it has been suspended but the company was providing employment and benefits.

    Cons

If you are in a management position it is very hard to have a work life balance. The funded source is very demanding and sometimes it is Friday 5pm when the funding requests information or any urgent matter that required to work weekends as well.

    Pros

The bonus potencial you could earn is up to 15% and their medical benefits are paid for.

    Cons

Unfortunately, their is a lot of favoritism, the majority of upper management has no clue how to do their job, the pay is below average in Austin and there is no work life balance.

    Good for a short term

Jan 29, 2021 - Lead Case Manager in Pleasant Hill, CA

    Pros

The job can feel rewarding and connections with various stakeholders can be made.

    Cons

Work-life balance is not the best. Management and employees receive various trainings however they are not well implemented so it turns into wasted time. It is a salary position and work is almost always more than 40hrs per week making the salary pay off feel very minimal.

    Needs improvement in employee retention

    Pros

This company has a great mission and does good work that attracts a lot of caring people. Good benefits.

    Cons

Poor job security. In my 5 years at the company, we went through 3 rounds of layoffs that were all handled very poorly. SWK is more affected by fluctuations in demand than some of its competitors (a new leaf and neighborhood ministries) because it is much larger. Work-life balance can be very difficult, especially as you move up in the company. It's very important to establish boundaries between work and personal life early on and speak up for yourself when management tries to overwork you.

    Admirable mission but horrible mis-management

    Aug 26, 2020 - Program Director

    Business Outlook

    Pros

he mission of SWK is admirable but the negligent and selfish actions of upper management have led to mass layoffs and program shut downs across the country which have affected innocent workers. Working under a grant can be challenging, as you have to be renewed every so many years to ensure that you have job security. Some middle managers lack basic competency which poses problems for localized managers and there is little to no room for career growth, unless you're possibly near the headquarters in Austin, TX. The chance to acquire new knowledge and job skills is great, but new ideas from upper management are overdone leaving employees feeling stressed and overwhelmed as most programs have very few employees, meaning more work with less people to help get it done. Pros Flexible Schedule, Generous Leave, Great Benefits

    Cons

Work/Life Balance, Job Continuation Depends on Grant Renewal in Youth Justice Division

    Pros

One of the best paying companies, loved the job working and providing medical services. The structure they have for their medical department is amazing. You have the resources you need to strive in your job.

    Cons

Management and lack of work life balance.

    Great mission, poor leadership

    Pros

Kids are amazing, great opportunity to do great work. Medical benefits are paid for by the company.

    Cons

Corporate leadership is poor, work Program Directors and Asst. Program Directors to the ground. Zero consideration for work/life balance. It's also very incestuous, everyone is related and moving up has a lot to do with who you know and/or are related to. They also make some sketchy decisions when it comes to kids being released because they're so focused on data and the bottom line over safety.
