I have been working at Southwestern Advantage full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great program. Good opportunity to make money. Amazing experience.

    Cons

The cons of this program could be that its extremely challenging, that the hours are long and that it puts you in a lot of uncomfortable situations that you might not be used to. This is also why the program is so beneficial.

    Advice to Management

There are some things that annoy me probably like with any job. But most of those are just necessary in order for success.

I have been working at Southwestern Advantage part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Potential to make more money than you could ever make as a college student, Great Mentors, Great POSITIVE environment of students, Entrepreneurial Spirit Development, Self-motivation Skills, Executing All aspects of running your own business, getting out of your comfort zone

    Cons

Hardest internship in the world. This job has ALL the cons in life - bad environment, mean people, home stress? all these things happen in life. I chose to respond to it positively and choose to control what I can control. So worth it though.

I have been working at Southwestern Advantage full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You'll never find leaders in the corporate world who care as much as those who've mentored me through SW. It's pretty incredible to work with such motivated people who can simultaneously compete with each other while championing one another. The mission to empower young people to build the skills and the character they need to achieve their goals in life is lived out in every step of the process.

    Cons

Emotionally rigorous. Don't try it if you're not ready to put your money where your mouth is and grow. SW works with DEVELOPING leaders and sales people. Mistakes happen! When learning to confront and care, it can be easy to miss the mark. Everyone in the program is learning and growing.

I have been working at Southwestern Advantage full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lifelong friendships, world travel, personal development, new perspectives, increasing gratitude, an education in humanity, empathy, and the adventure of a lifetime – things that are only available by first dealing with the cons.

    Cons

The cons are the fascinating part. Everyone who crosses paths with the program, even those who only interview, have to deal with the cons in some way –– directly while participating, indirectly while interviewing. The cons make people face their own fears and insecurities, and because of that, it's very interesting to see how people respond. The cons of the program are what attract the right people for the right reasons and are meant to scare away those who would not be a good match for the program. We believe hard work is fun and rewarding, we love challenges, risk, problem-solving, competition, and gaining independence. The pros are pretty cool, and they're all on the other side of the cons.
