I have been working at Sovereign Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There has been a change in the President and CEO to Paul Hafey. Things have changed and continue to change for the better. New attitude, new business caring management.

    Cons

Some growing pains but the company is growing!

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to the employees. Keep making improvements with there recommendations.

I worked at Sovereign Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

The environment is friendly and welcoming. Although there is an underlying feeling they try to enforce that you have to fight for your job even when you are doing a good job.

    Cons

Little room for growth. The company is not doing well so they are mostly unable to afford promotions and raises. Many chemist I positions end up doing significant amount of chemist II and III work. Also pay is below industry standard.

    Advice to Management

Positive feedback is as important as negative feedback. I understand you want your lab team to work hard but only giving negative feedback is kind of rough. People are less inclined to work harder if there is no reward.

I worked at Sovereign Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company was nice size, everyone knew each other. My QA boss was very good and optimistic about the companies future. The working hours there flexible for salary workers.

    Cons

Because the company was a smaller business they were a little behind in the up to date technologies of manufacturing and paperless systems. Makes it hard to run a company efficiently.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Laid back company good co workers. Good place to get experience. Overtime opportunities come around often. Working here for awhile has taught me alot about pharmaceutical manufacturing.

    Cons

Company doesn't pay well. Hard to advance not a typical place that gives raises. Production schedules change often. If you want to have a great career moving up, not the best place to work.

I have been working at Sovereign Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

Pretty good work life balance. Expectations of employees are reasonable, and you are not blamed if something goes wrong that is out of your control. Many of the co-workers are hard-working, awesome people. Turnover rate is high, which creates opportunities for new employees to gain experience (both a pro and con). Although it can be busy at times, stress levels are not too high. Overall this is a good place to get entry level experience, and you won't be overworked.

    Cons

The company has been doing poorly in the last few years (2012-2015), and this reflects in pay. Pay is below industry average. Layoffs occur about once a year, sometimes more frequently. Once you have been hired, dpn't expect any significant salary increases- those are reserved for attracting talent to replace the people who get laid off or quit. Turnover rate is high. From what I understand, it was not always like this, as some of the employees who have been around for 5+ years make good money. No telling when/if profits will increase.

    Advice to Management

Give respectable salary increases or people will continue to leave for greener pastures.

I have been working at Sovereign Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pros are a paycheck, and there are some good people who work hard and don't give up. Work-life balance is OK.

    Cons

Sovereign prices services low to get clients to sign, then stops caring about them. Management calls clients stupid behind their backs. Employees put out fires every day, there is no planning. No accountability or rewards. Equipment and systems are antiquated and since documents are all paper they are often lost. Politics due to family members and favorites cause fighting about minor decisions.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of unqualified family members and favorites. Set timelines and hold people to them. Recognize employees who make contributions with bonus and promotion. Modernize the equipment and get into the computer age.
