I have been working at Spanx full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I have never worked at a company with as much flexibility and understanding as Spanx. As a mother, it's important to me to have time with my child but I also love my job — it's hard to juggle it all. Here at Spanx, I am constantly impressed by how supportive everyone is for each employee's personal priorities. As long as you get your job done, no one micromanages you. It's all about helping each other rise. There are...

I have been working at Spanx part-time

    Pros

They give their interns amazing opportunities for learning. I was an intern and got hired after. The employees here are some of the most hard working, intelligent, and innovative people I have ever seen. I really can't wait to come to work every day and everyone here always seems to feel the same way.

    Cons

Working in a fast paced company like Spanx, can be challenging for some people.

    Cons

    - Long working hours, sometimes unclear expectations

    Advice to Management

    I worked at Spanx full-time

    Pros

Big on female empowerment. Positive morale and work environment. Good benefits and stepping stone for high end retail career. Operations and systems have good bones, but need fine tuning.

    Cons

Work/life balance. Expectation to own/wear high end brands, dress with a desired level of femininity, and maintain a very specific aesthetic.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in growth and development of dedicated staff. Promote based on merit and results versus tenure. Celebrate individuality and focus less on aesthetics.

I have been working at Spanx full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Entrepreneurial environment; able to be a seat at the table and be involved in a multitude of ways, not only within your own function, but total company. You go high and low, which makes for a hand on, roll up your sleeves culture. Awesome office space (roof top deck & garden!) and events that continue to drive towards empowering and elevating women. Out of box thinking with a try and learn attitude.

    Cons

    - Office space feels spread out and often times teams are contained in meeting rooms, fittings or their own offices. - Communicate better to total organization and not just relay on leadership team. Communication doesn't always trickle down properly.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be present and coach your teams on embracing change. It is a growing company!!!, so as we constantly evolve be there to support and guide what is a fairly junior population. Communicate, communicate, communicate!

    I worked at Spanx

    Pros

Really cool office with outdoor workspace.

    Cons

It’s pretty chaotic and they work you really hard. Also think hiring is a bit racist. Very few women of color. They treat contractors very badly.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more women of color.

I worked at Spanx full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Christmas week off, free healthcare for individuals

    Cons

Feels very cliquey, majority female employees so things can feel like you’re back in high school. They act like they want to emulate a young start up environment but in reality they are not open to new ideas/changing things up

    Advice to Management

Empower people to do their jobs. You do not need to be involved in every minute detail

I worked at Spanx full-time for more than a year

    Pros

(Mostly) Nice people Amazing heath care and maternity leave benefits Paid Time Off Office holidays— office is closed last week of the year and employees enjoy 1/2 days on Fridays during the Summer

    Cons

Absolutely no room for career growth. Work/Life balance is lacking. Leadership is outwardly ‘catty’ and lacks decision making abilities. For a company that preaches ‘empowering women’ you have zero empowerment to do your job. All decisions (even minuscule ones) have to be made by Sara.

    Advice to Management

Employees need to feel valued, empowered, and respected! Until that changes, turnover will continue to be an issue.

    Pros

Excellent benefits and gorgeous office. The culture is fun and products/brand is well known.

    Cons

Senior Management is weak. No real strategy or decisions are known or communicated. New head of marketing every few months.

    Advice to Management

Hire more SR people who know how to manage and lead. Communicate the WHY and WAY to your company so they can have direction. Empower the people and allow them to learn.
