I worked at Spark Foundry (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people and wonderful training and on-boarding for new employees coming on as associates.

    Cons

Quick turn around demanded on projects and overall workload can be overwhelming - I usually take a little more time on projects so this was a struggle for me

I have been working at Spark Foundry full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good intro to the industry
    Good entry-level pay
Depending on the team, solid work-life balance
    Lots of opportunities for training/learning

    Cons

No new business wins and losing big accounts.
This results in quick employee turnaround, because there is no opportunity for talented young professionals to be promoted, and there is no potential for the talented seasoned professionals to get any pay increases. Like they're always saying, "new business is the lifeblood of our industry". Because Spark Foundry is doing a bad job of earning new business the future looks bleaker by the month.
Your satisfaction will depend highly on which team you're on... some work from 9:30-5... others work 9-7/8. Some enjoy the luxury of frequent meals/meetings/outings... on others you won't move from your desk for months on end. One floor has 2 kitchens, a lounge and a board room... the next has a rusty fridge and you have to wash your mug out in the bathroom sinks. Very sporadic and unpredictable circumstances.

    Advice to Management

You won't fire veterans who meet the absolute minimum standard and as a result you're losing great talent to other agencies because they know there's no potential for upward movement here.
You're like the Pittsburgh Pirates when they sucked... you found a way to make being mediocre profitable and now that's just the standard. But, news flash, the clients and the employees are starting to realize that.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Spark Foundry full-time

    Pros

Good vacation schedule - have off more days than just major holidays.

    Cons

Communication is poor; employees aren't properly informed of important company dates, event, happenings, etc. This is particularly true about annual evaluations. If you get a good evaluation, logic would say a raise would come with that. Not the case at Spark Foundry! Instead, the company strings you along, not indicating when, and even if, you will ever be rewarded for the work you do.
