I have been working at Spartan Motors full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very challenging but rewarding day to day.

    Cons

Leadership is to disconnected with the surroundings.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time understanding the product. And understand that the heartbeat of the business is the associates that produce the product. Let them know they are appreciated.

I worked at Spartan Motors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Most hourly employees good people.

    Cons

Extremely poor management. "Good old boy club". Encourage employees to tell on one another. No communication. Hr absolutely will sweep you under the rug if you have a issue with anyone in management.

    Advice to Management

Start sticking the knife in the back of the competition, not your employees. Mgmt needs training on dealing with people skills. Much much more

I worked at Spartan Motors full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They have a good benefit package including healthcare, life insurance, vacation, 401k retirement.

    Cons

The pay rate for this type of work is a little low. Corporate management really doesn't have a clue as to what the needs or the abilities of the associates were in the campus where I worked. HR is non existent and unresponsive to the needs of the associates.

    Advice to Management

Remember the video we were all required to watch when we were hired? It was about accountability and integrity. I think the management teams need to watch this video again. Remember...Treating an employee like they matter will benefit the company in the long run.

I worked at Spartan Motors (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company was good intentioned, and the people there were highly devoted to their work.

    Cons

Management was on continuous rotation, and new management typically came from an industry that had no concept of what we did. It was a new strategy and direction every 18 months.

I have been working at Spartan Motors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Variety of projects, decent pay, lots of hours that they DO NOT advertise IF you're looking for that much

    Cons

Major engineer mistakes that roll down hill through ALL of production, CORPORATE oversight and micro managing, NO repercussions for mistakes from engineering but major accountability on the production floor. No compassion or consideration with point system.

I worked at Spartan Motors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay and benefits, I guess.

    Cons

Where to start? The last review sums it up - they are clearly talking about a specific toxic, juvenile, backstabbing, hateful, unprofessional department. There is zero leadership for this team, and as a result, turnover is extremely high. Numerous people have left after less than a year because of a certain manager's preferential treatment of certain team members and horrible treatment of others. If you like being demeaned in front of other people, talked down to, or given ZERO authority, this is the place for you. As for as HR, they talk a good game, but in the end will do nothing to support employees when issues are brought up. Stay away.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the cancer who doesn't know how to lead, otherwise you will continue to lose quality employees. Your reputation is suffering.
