I have been working at Speakeasy (Less than a year)

    Pros

Diverse clients, very forward-thinking kind of company, friendly atmosphere

    Cons

Am only freelance, so cannot comment on what it's like to work in their office. My experience so far as a freelancer has been positive.

    Pros

Speakeasy was a relaxed and casual place to work. The people were professional yet fun to work with. Overall I thought the work environment gave me a positive experience.

    Cons

While Speakeasy made attempts to provide competitive pay and benefits I feel that they were hampered by lack of capital.

    Advice to Management

I believe that management needs to expand capital expenditures to give their employees access to the latest tools to keep them competitive in the market place.

  4. "A good place to work to develop your career"

    Pros

As a smaller company, less than 500 employees, Speakeasy allows great opportunity to make your contributions to the company really count. You are given challenging assignments and projects while being allowed enough room to learn and grow. In a short period of time, you will soon get to meet and work with all of the key players within the organization. The senior leadership team is approachable and listens to the feedback given.

    Cons

Speakeasy's pay is on the lower end of the scale for comparable titles in the management ranks, but fair to average for individual contributors.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that all decisions take into account all employees, as well as, the revenue bottom line. Take more time to communicate to the team in either the company intranet or a regular news letter.

    Cons

    Very few new projects
No compensation adjustment from last 2 years
    Financially not doing very well
All internal projects and just a few client facing

    Advice to Management

    Get the finance settled down
    bring more projects
Re motivate the teams and bring back the confidence
    Act fast to employee concerns

    Pros

Very laid back and liberal atmosphere, flexible as well. Good benefits. Many opportunities within the company (although I haven't advanced yet because I haven't found a good fit.)
Excellent location in down town Seattle just a couple blocks away from the market and very close to all bus routes.
    Company provides transportation pass.

    Cons

Due to the location, everyone gets seated together. There are no cubicles or many offices (except for the higher-ups) so they literally have tables next to each other and people sit inches away from each other. Kinda looks like a computer lab. No sound barriers so it gets kinda loud when you're on the phone with someone and people next to you are talking or yelling etc...

    Advice to Management

I am very satisfied with working at Speakeasy and I really like it. I am getting tired of doing phone support though, so I am interested in other opportunities within the company.

    Pros

Access to interesting technologies and problems.

    Cons

Speakeasy is plagued by lack of focus and only doing half of any project.

    Advice to Management

    Convey clear goals for success.
