    Cons

Advancements are few when ask about how to advance they give you the run
around and a hoop to jump through.

    Advice to Management

When you have an employee who wants to advance take them in consideration. Don't just overlook them and give them the run around be honest with them.

    Pros

Easy to move up as long as you get the attention of the right people.

    Cons

Unorganized; lack a solid business plan; hourly and salary rates are low because you are encouraged to earn the rest in commissions.

    Advice to Management

Develop a business plan; determine where you want to go and build an action plan; there are a lot of the wrong people in the wrong positions; work to eliminate the good 'ol boy mentality.

Everyone cringed whenever a certain manager walked by... I never had any problems with him, but I also kept to myself.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Specs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Once hired, they'll never get rid of you. Welcome to all lazy "push my work off" on someone else interested persons. You are allowed to show up late every day scheduled to work. Beg off to leave early putting a major strain on the other employees. Stand around and complain of how hard you "think" you work. Leave right on schedule even though your work is not complete. Don't worry about smoking policies if you happen to use vaporizers. I'd love to know what these employees have on management to keep their jobs.

    Cons

You must pick up the slack for all of those who don't. When you are a conscientious hard working team player, (all) management knows it and knows you will get it done regardless for the good of the business and your coworkers. This causes great dissension among the ranks except to agree that nothing will be done. No raises for those to continue to work hard and smile no matter what. AND, there is no true medical benefits unless you are upper management. No RX coverage, only one trip of $75 paid one time to any doctor if they will accept that coverage.

    Advice to Management

Document and watch camera footage. You don't have to pay unemployment if the termination is validated. If someone can't meet their expectations of a position, put them in another one or another location. Stop "being the buddy" and treat everyone equal. After all, weren't you hired to run an efficient, friendly, customer service? Not a daycare with favorites? Establish a company policy to be followed at every store.

I worked at Specs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good pay, pay increases often, work with schedule for family time etc

    Cons

Sometimes you close and then open next morning....a little tiring

    Advice to Management

"the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" ...corporate is getting so large that it's losing sight of the "family" values. The upper management staff with seniority is unaware some newer management members are causing loyal, hard-working and dedicated employees to leave.

    Pros

Co-workers were good, hard workers in most cases. They can be lazy but that's bc upper management doesn't respect associates

    Cons

-Micromanagement- upper management played favoritism .. they promoted associates that kissed the behinds
-The owner would suggest who associates should vote for in elections that would benefit his company
-no real hr department always making up rules as they go

    Advice to Management

Let the managers manage .. let the store associates sell
Be a people friendly company ... promote on merit
