    Pros

Good people, decent benefits, medically useful technology

    Cons

no employee development, no upward mobility

    Advice to Management

The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, and that prevents company (and employee) progress. Management needs to get their heads out of their backsides and pay attention to what is going on. Sales people aren't the only important part of the company, stop wasting money giving them freebies all the time, pay attention to the working people.

I worked at Spectranetics (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good compensation and commission. The work itself is very interesting. Good sales and marketing support.

    Cons

Promotions and awards are almost completely given to favorites. Certain people are set up for success (by opportunities or giving more attainable plans to the favorites). Terrible regional managers in the south

    Advice to Management

Be less punitive and more reasonable in your commission plans

I worked at Spectranetics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team and a fast paced environment. The mission of the company is easy to invest in and some of the new products were targeted at underserved patients. If you asked me to rate them during my first year, I would have given it five stars but it went downhill from there.

    Cons

Upper mobility is limited as the senior leadership has a bias for hiring externally. Innovation is limited because, with a few exceptions, the senior leadership looks to implement things that have worked for them in the past at other companies rather than seeking to look forward.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to promote innovation and allow teammates to explore ideas and improvements. Stop paying consultants to tell you what your teammates have already brought up as ideas.

    Pros

Nice people to work with. Beautiful location. A lot of dedicated and talented people.

    Cons

Many directors lack experience and are poor managers. Favorites often get promoted instead of basing on qualifications and experience. Lots of turnover right now, with several new VPs coming onboard.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what you what the company to be when it grows up.

    Pros

    Great potential in this industry

    Cons

Company is very unorganized, resources in the wrong places

    Advice to Management

Get organized don't be afraid to use the talent you have, trust the people under you, if you can't trust the people that you hired to do the job that speaks volumes about you as a manager

    Pros

    Fairly relax atmosphere
    Decent medical benefits
The company definitely helps improve the quality of life of the people who use the excimer lasers.
Many people today would not have a leg(s) (having them amputated) because of severe peripheral artery diseases or worse.

    Cons

Management doesn't really understand how to motivate employees.
Too many chiefs, not enough indians.
The dental benefits could definitely be improved, same coverage as the 1980s
The product works extremely well, it just has not been marketed appropriately or effectively to those who have used it.
Many top level managers are just too inflexible. The primary reason for doing nearly anything is “that’s just the way it’s always been done.” I have heard many people within the company complain that we are just missing too many opportunities because of corporate arrogance. It almost seems the upper management is confusing rigidity for values. There is also an expected resistance when offering new ideas to the company.

    Advice to Management

Seek out talent from within the company - Don't be so quick to hire outside people when you have plenty of talent right here

The pay compensation and retirement packages are not comparable with the industry and location. Human resources department is understaffed to handle all needs of company.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, decent salary, plenty of opportunity if you are in the right department,

    Cons

Leadership lacks direction, no real clarity outside of Sales and Marketing, Leadership needs to adopt and understand a true "team" core value, Leadership rarely follows the very values they are attempting to push on the "help"

    Advice to Management

    I have none
