    Pros

Transitioning jobs is never easy, the interview / hiring process was awesome and very professional.

    Cons

Nothing at this time - I have enjoyed everyone I have interacted with during the hiring process. Other companies could learn from Spectrum hiring process!

    Pros

Overall the people there are a lot of fun and it's a pretty relaxed atmosphere.

    Cons

Depending on who you are, there's really no succession planning. There's no rhyme or reason (other than favoritism) for who gets promoted. When you ask management, they can't even explain it. High performers are lumped in with low performers so there's little incentive to bust your butt.

    Advice to Management

Reward the good people and keep your promises.

    Pros

Fun Atmoshphere, great leader Greg G!

    Cons

Need better management. Train and develop good talent.

    Advice to Management

When an employee wants to grow in their role; they should invest the time to develop instead of taking the chance of loosing great talent.

I have been working at Spectrum Brands (More than a year)

    Pros

Incredible respect for employees, recognition of job well done, and special events hosted by management. Companies that treat their employees this well simply do not exist anymore. As they grow, it gets better - not lesser. Compensation is very good as well.

    Cons

There are not many downsides to working for this company.

    Pros

The people that work here are great. There is a focus on team-building activities. The benefits package is good. And they are flexible with work hours and telecommuting.

    Cons

The leadership team. The company has had several owners over the last 10 years and had a challenge keeping top leaders. No new leadership has been hired, they simply promoted people from within who had been doing other jobs.

    Advice to Management

Hire the right person for the job, not just one who's been with the company for a long time. Create positions based on the need, not the person.

    Pros

Benefits, paid holidays, and various company discounts, including an on-site store for employees

    Cons

No opportunities for advancement unless a co-worker leaves or you transfer to a different department.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the quality of the work your employees provide instead of profts.

    Pros

The company has an amazing program for interns. Managers and senior level executives are very supportive. The organization structure is pretty flat and has an open door culture. Would definitely recommend anybody to work here.

    Cons

    Nothing I can think of.

    Pros

There are not too many pros to this place. Two that stick out though are that the health benefits are decent. The other "pro" would be that you never have enough work and sit bored most of the day.

    Cons

There are many cons to this place. The first being that it's very old school thinking. We have to work 9 hour dqys with a mandatory 1 hour lunch. We have a very small vacation bucket and also a sick bucket. However you cannot use sick for PTO. Work from home is a never here, so don't even think about it. As companies are leaning towards unlimited PTO, work from home and a better work life balance, we're moving in the opposite direction. Corporate does not have a backbone either, if you scream loud enough, you can do anything you want. Going back to the pros, there is never enough work for people. It's a common theme that people sit bored all day long. I would be hard pressed to find more than 2 hours worth of work. When asking around, most people were in the same boat.

If you are looking for a place to mindlessly sit for 9 hours a day and talking about action plans but never initiating, this is the perfect place to sit in a cube.

    Advice to Management

Too old school, growing too fast with out the infrastructure and policies and the slogan " MORE MORE MORE" is terrible.
