    Pros

Great opportunity for engineering and technical sales experts

    Cons

Nothing to share at this time

    Advice to Management

Proceed with staffing additional experienced engineers in the midwest

I worked at Spirax Sarco full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Recognition within the industry. Products are a full mix. There is structure from within. Some structure is ridiculous.

    Cons

Management has no clue how to be creative . They don't want to rock the boat when it comes to making a decision which does not change anything . Growth is only a dream, and not a reality by management. Inert management.

    Advice to Management

Don't pat yourself on the back when you go out looking for sales talent. When you find the talent, don't talk down and be condescending about how broad the product line is and that it will take time to learn it. You have hired too many unqualified people that have hampered the organization and stymied growth and trust....externally and internally.

    Pros

If you are in dire financial straits, and need a pay check, go for it. And, if hired, keep looking for another job.

    Cons

Previous Pres. and Gen Mgr. who was recently terminated severely damaged what was a well-run company and industry leader in their niche. Her summary terminations of key players, and many resignations of the most experienced and productive employees due to the ship being scuttled, will be felt for years to come.

    Advice to Management

By now you must know the fatal mistake you made by putting Lorraine Wiseman in charge.

    Pros

Most of the people who actually tried to accomplish work here did their level best to attempt to get things done. The parent corporation, based in the U.K. dashed any hopes of progress in this direction.

    Cons

Absolute living hell to work at this place.

    Advice to Management

Try to buy your souls back from Satan. He may laugh, but what the hell, what do you have to lose? You have already lost any semblance of self respect. Why not give it a shot?

    Pros

Company has great opportunity for career growth and achievement. Company is continually working to make improvements to it position in the market as well as company structure to support its growth opportunities.

Once you have invested the time to learn the industry and products, you become a rare and highly valued technical resource for your customers as there are not many "Steam Experts" in this industry anymore and the demand for you knowledge is everywhere in the the world of Food and Beverage, Pharma, Institutions and Oil and Gas.

    Cons

The restructuring and realignment of the company has left some unsettled, but this is the cost of creating a new culture and better company structure to allow the company to grow in this industry. Change is always hard, but that is why it is worth it in the end as some are not willing to do it.

    Advice to Management

Continue to bring in talent and develop them. This is an industry where outside talent is abundant, so continue with the recruitment of the right people and stay full steam ahead with development and training of these "New" steam experts.

I worked at Spirax Sarco full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Established product lines. Name recognition.

    Cons

Not innovative. Missing every single mark in the market. Loss of talented employees. Underpaid employees, especially outside sales team. Bring in people that have no experience and mess it all up. Turnover is very high. S/S has a mess in the distribution market. Loss loyalties that were earned and easily lost due to new upper management. HR and Executive Management are awful communicators; low brow, and disrespectful.

    Advice to Management

    Quit.

    Pros

    Great products and people.
At one time, had a great brand name in the industry.

    Cons

Upper management is clueless and will drive the company from it's once great position in the industry. Upper management is not trusted by the employees and customers.

    Advice to Management

Get out!! Let people that know the industry run the company.

    Pros

nice parking lot. flex hours. gives back to the community. nice people. hard working staff. hourly people committed. fair pay packages.

    Cons

senior management does not have an open door policy. Directors are not educated in business and are in over their heads. All managers are puppets to the CEO.

    Advice to Management

put the customer first, like you say. Practice what you preach. Stock the product. improve delivery and pricing. improve product quality.

I have been working at Spirax Sarco full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Not slave drivers. Most people leave at 5:00 pm daily. Pay is very good if negotiated prior to taking job.

    Cons

Lorrain Wiseman President for past two years. Had her own agenda when she was hired by the board. Has created an environment of intimidation and manages that way. Has run-off much of the technical expertise or gotten rid of. Promoted personnel not qualified for the positions. Hired or promoted females based upon her feminist views. Never hired a VP of Sales and Marketing. Sales runs the show. No engineering department, no real technical service, quality, no R&D. Weak marketing VP, not enough personnel in product management, app engineering, or marketing. HR, Accounting, and IT get all the resources they require and hire accordingly. Directors and sales managers tell the President everything she wants to hear and are afraid to say that " the emperor wears no clothes". Unbelievable that the UK allows this to happen. Just don't get on your manager's bad side. Most manager's there have been there almost their whole career. They are completely oblivious to how other companies actually operate or manage their businesses. Mediocre products, three times the price of their competitors, arrogance to really believe that they can grow????

    Advice to Management

They are stuck and scared for their jobs. Good luck. Maybe wake up and stop quoting the "core values" when it suits you then ignoring them when it doesn't. Hypocrites...
