    Pros

Some groups in certain teams allow for great work and family life balance. While others work you to the bone!

    Cons

Where to begin...Substandard benefits, pay and career growth. Culture is of limited innovation and growth.

    Advice to Management

Very old company with very old culture that could hurt more than help. Pay and benefits are poor compared to the market. Simply looks at the market and see what others are doing to grow teams and revenue. Good luck

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

None. The business is declining and management thinks they can fire their way to profitability. Spirent is a hardware company trapped in a software defined world. Their tech and engineering is obsolete. The only reason for it's existence is so the majority shareholder - the CEO can cash out.

    Cons

Bad management, obsolete technology, rapidly declining market, no business plan.

    Advice to Management

Cash out and be done with it.

I worked at Spirent Communications full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    * Amazing work life balance. Really good health benefits.
    * If you **dont** like to work with smart people this is the place for you because all smart people are hired by other companies in bay area. reasons: see below

    Cons

    * 1 of 1% company in Bay Area that expects employee to pay for immigration out of pocket. Make sure you ask for company policy because no one will tell you upfront about the out of pocket expenses and you will realize about it after its too late
    * Base salary is so so (not at all competitive) and NO Bonus, NO Stocks compared to thousands of other companies in bay area who pays top dollars to get top talent

    Advice to Management

get competitive please and improve engineering standards

I have been working at Spirent Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people. Good work-life balance. No weekend work. Reasonably flexible hours. Occasional telecommuting.

    Cons

Having tremendous difficulty delivering on customer commitments. Frequently sell features that are not yet under development. Large amounts of old baggage weighing down people and processes.

    Advice to Management

Pick a priority. Stick to it. Remove distractions and clear the path for the team to deliver on the priority. Manage out employees who can't make the grade.

I have been working at Spirent Communications full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Occasionally good work-life balance, decent benefits, no raise in benefit costs last couple years. 401K match up to 4%.

    Cons

Can have a heavy workload. Low morale with employees and poor communication. Pay will be low if you allow. No discounts on Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Many new leaders in the company, there's been turnover in the Executive staff as well as departments throughout the company (Engineering, Sales etc).

    Advice to Management

More communication, less layoffs, better raises and more often. Value your employees and make them feel valued.

I worked at Spirent Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A Spirent VP once told me they would not fire an employee even if they stole from the company!

    Cons

See the Pro. This company is C-level managed by the worst and most incompetent idiots on the planet. They pay at 75% of market, can't make a decision at any level of management and are oblivious about the dire straights they are in

    Pros

    * You can never get fired unless you do something like federal crime
    * Best work life balance you can ever get

    Cons

    * Not at all challenging environment
    * HR hardly makes any effort to make place competitive/fun compared to other companies in bay area
    * Compensation is nothing compared to other companies
    * Hiring top talent is impossible because of the reasons above

    Advice to Management

Please don't Save a Penny, Loose a Dollar
Spirent has everything to be a market leader but lacks on manpower and right talented/dedicated people to execute plan in right direction

    Pros

Near zero politics. People truly enjoy working together and helping each other.

    Cons

People not held accountable. No penalty for failure. Results show it but nothing changes. Competition continues prevail.

    Advice to Management

Teams are so distributed, everyone (product manager all the way to CEO) spends all their time traveling - meetings constantly cancelled or postponed - little real work gets done.
