    Pros

Health Ins Benefits for now but almost guaranteed they are on the way out. The core plan with no deductible has doubled in cost year over year. Can't wait to see how much it's going up in April this year.

    Modest performance bonuses for 2016.

    Cons

Pay... considering benefits are going down the tube the pay isn't keeping up. They know the Wichita job market is horrible and low ball anyone coming in. The problem is you get what you pay for.

They treat first level managers like dirt. They work anyone worth a darn to death to constantly save their tails from getting fired. The rule by fear of your job method for management leads to constant shuffle of people to put out fires, working 13-15 hr days to fix other mechanics mistakes... then they don't hold them accountable because they can't good mechanics to replace the problem mechanics because they won't pay worth a darn.

If you get stuck on the 737 line, your career ends there. They will not move you. You will retire, die or have to quit to advance.

As an hourly employee: your vacation and sick leave are all based on how many hours you work. More overtime= more vacation So if you are good and get done early, you get to help put out fires fixing mistake on airplanes about to ship. If you suck at your job, you get lots of overtime to get it done, thus getting more pay and accruing more vacation time.

Then when it comes bonus time, it is figured off all pay including OT. So again, the screw ups that always milk their job and get OT get a higher bonus for doing terrible work.

There are loads of people without integrity working this system.

    Advice to Management

To upper management: Keep living quarter to quarter on charts. The wheels are going to fall off and it will hit the fan. But I am sure you will have your performance bonus by then for making the numbers look good and will exit to another company to destroy by then.

I have been working at Spirit AeroSystems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary is good for the tenured employees only.
Non management salaried and hourly workers are typically great people to work with.
The facility while very outdated and poorly maintained utilizes very interesting and some state of the art equipment and processes.

    Cons

Except for our new CEO Tom Gentile, new executive management is not realistic and out of touch with expectations. Mid-level management is fearful of trying to educate our new executive management of our true capabilities and processes.
Executive and mid-level management has difficulty in making timely decisions critical to program implementation and deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Set egos aside and listen to the subject matter experts to determine the true capabilities of the site and realistic expectations. Then base timely decisions on that information. Work harder to remove the road blocks to make your people successful and with that you will be successful.

I worked at Spirit AeroSystems full-time

    Pros

pay is better than other companies in town. Similar to the rest of the aerospace drill. Cons outweigh the pros. Perhaps new CEO can make the company as nice a place to work at like 20 years ago.

    Cons

Management is poorly trained and out the door before they have a chance to grow and lead. Not much emphasis or training for new hires (recent grads.) you have you to hit the ground running.

    Advice to Management

Do not let go of good people with the hopes that new hires will be able to pick up the slack, with a few days of training. Also do not let dictator managers push out your good employees.

I worked at Spirit AeroSystems (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay is probably the best thing about this company.
The paid holiday time off is very good as well.

    Cons

    Does not Hire qualified mechanics
    Does not hire enough mechanics
If they did then the OT, excessive weekends would be less and the peaple could see there families more often.

    Advice to Management

It's not about your money, it's about the quality of your product.
