    Pros

Great co-workers, everyone genuinely wants to do a good job. Good benefit package and great training at the training center.

    Cons

The actual airline is terrible. They dont have a large enough crew and enough planes so when a flight or crew are delayed EVERYONE is delayed.

    Advice to Management

Keep everyone motivated especially during delays/ cancellations.

I have been working at Spirit Airlines part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company treats its employees well. They are always having events to get everyone involved.

    Cons

The pay is one of the lowest in the industry. The passengers that fly Spirit are first time flyers, so there is a lot of misunderstanding.

    Advice to Management

Train your agents not to only use the system, but how to work in customer service industry.

    Great health insurance
    Flight Benefits
Can be flexible scheduling wise after you have been there a while
Possible to make good money if you work a lot
    Union contract to protect employees

    Cons

Company is not looking out for the best interest of their employees
The low fares attract people who do not act appropriately on the aircraft
Make almost nothing during the 5 weeks of training
Starting pay is not a livable wage

    Advice to Management

Profit Sharing should be provided to the people making you profitable
Give credit where it is due
Listen to you employees out on the line they can give you solutions to problems that actually work rather than letting people in corporate make decisions on things they have never actually experienced
Train your schedulers to follow the contract!

I have been working at Spirit Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast growing company, good travel and health benefits. Great place to meet people.

    Cons

Salary is still below other major airlines. Company is not very employee oriented and could improve employee morale by recognition/reward programs, improve salary and benefits.

    Advice to Management

Improve employee morale by promoting recognition/reward programs, better salary or bonuses, improve travel benefits, better layover hotels and cities overseas.

I have been working at Spirit Airlines full-time

    Pros

Flexibility in schedule. You move up in. Seniority quickly because it's growing so fast. Quality of life can be good for those reasons.

    Cons

Management is not consistent or very helpful. Corporate is all over the place trying to implement new things but it usually ends in chaos. Payroll messes up my check frequently.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees and it will show

"Great coworkers and activities; some managers need help with growth"

I worked at Spirit Airlines full-time

    Pros

Multiple fun activities; opportunities to be a Spirit advocate and travel; free standby travel on start date for perm hires, fun atmosphere to balance stressful nature of industry; Food Truck Fridays; popcorn Fridays (summer); multicultural events onsite; holiday picnics and parties; coworkers easy to approach and helpful.

    Cons

HR processes and IT needs streamlining. Job descriptions sometimes have typos or different titles that one listed; Onboarding a challenge - new employees now have to wait days for computers and access to network resources. IT infrastructure and ticketing in place but often easier to email or call IT contacts to get things done.
Training and onboarding a bit spotty - classes given by HR more organized but slides and handouts may not sync.
Some manager been there for over 10 years and need training on people development and feedback skills. Older ones are a bit old school and can be unprofessional without even realizing it.

    Advice to Management

Improve your HR team and have mandatory training for managers on team building and honest feedback. Implement employee feedback on manager to know how your teams truly feel about them and work to improve on it.
Since leaving, many external peers told me I shouldn't have worked there and a recruiter told me "something is wrong over there". Knowing so many nice people there made that hard to hear and I would like it to improve. Good luck!
