I worked at Spirit Airlines full-time

    Pros

Multiple fun activities; opportunities to be a Spirit advocate and travel; free standby travel on start date for perm hires, fun atmosphere to balance stressful nature of industry; Food Truck Fridays; popcorn Fridays (summer); multicultural events onsite; holiday picnics and parties; coworkers easy to approach and helpful.

    Cons

HR processes and IT needs streamlining. Job descriptions sometimes have typos or different titles that one listed; Onboarding a challenge - new employees now have to wait days for computers and access to network resources. IT infrastructure and ticketing in place but often easier to email or call IT contacts to get things done.
Training and onboarding a bit spotty - classes given by HR more organized but slides and handouts may not sync.
Some manager been there for over 10 years and need training on people development and feedback skills. Older ones are a bit old school and can be unprofessional without even realizing it.

    Advice to Management

Improve your HR team and have mandatory training for managers on team building and honest feedback. Implement employee feedback on manager to know how your teams truly feel about them and work to improve on it.
Since leaving, many external peers told me I shouldn't have worked there and a recruiter told me "something is wrong over there". Knowing so many nice people there made that hard to hear and I would like it to improve. Good luck!

I have been working at Spirit Airlines part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You have a lot of free time in between flights to do what ever you want some times like 2 and half hour, you don't have a supervisor breathing down your neck (but be careful because sometimes they drive around to do checks and you don't see them because they are watching you from a corner). Morning shift 0400/0430 - 0800/0830 is the EASIEST you only do either 1 turn or do a upload and security (if your flight pushes off late). You can stay until 1200 if you want. Or if you have high seniority you can leave. If your a new hire then your going to get MANDATORY and have to stay until 1200 anyways. After 6 months you get your full flight benefits and can pretty much fly any where around the world for free (if international you pay only taxes and zeta fare if booking through IDTravel)

    Cons

A LOT of heavy lifting and super fast pace. Be prepare to do "Quick Turns" (download, dump, and upload, and push in 30 minutes) If you don't push off on time be prepare to write a statement and possibly get a write up. Before getting your SIDA Badge (Airport Badge) you will be given a visitors badge and will work in the bag room. If new most likely when you bid are going to get stuck with nights 1700/1800 - 2100/2200/2300 and be prepare to GET THAT WORK!! Nights are crazy, in a 4 hour shift you can do 2 turns and a upload or download and are going to get MANDATORY every night and have to stay very late. Also you really get much hands on training at night like it's so busy and crazy. Is more like figure it out as you go and keep your eyes open and be aware of your surroundings ALL TIME and NEVER walk in front of the engine and keep a eye out for the red blinking light. Most likely you be doing the same flights everyday.

    Advice to Management

Have certain flights as training flights so new hires can really learn how to do. Route the schedule and crew and duties. Have different agents do labs, water, security, and turns. Not have the same people do the something everyday.

    Pros

Great opportunity to grow as an intern. You will be able to learn about their servicenow platform, coding, and also technical terms that coincide with IT services. Overall I had a great experience.

    Cons

Fast-paced and managers can percieving learning as a sign of incompetency. There is definitely a cluster mindset in company which leads to numerous silos.

    Advice to Management

Change your business model and pay people more. There is no excuse for people being paid meager wagers in order for the company to exhibit strong earning potential/growth to shareholders.

    Pros

Overtime is always available, nice co workers, fair management.

    Cons

Can't request time off, don't get paid enough to recieve benefits, work really hard and really long hours and don't get compensated properly.

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they're worth and your turnover would be a lot lower.

I have been working at Spirit Airlines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Travel benefits are great! Pretty good health insurance which i believe is one of the best in the industry. Short work days is also a plus.

    Cons

Too many nagging Flight attendants... Too many. They tend to make the reserves feel like they made a bad choice but yet they have been there for years.

    Advice to Management

More strict on policies that the company has in place. Although we are unionized, it still shouldn't impede you from throwing away the bad apples.
