A lot of hipe. ULCC idea is great but not communicated to passengers properly. Makes them in aggregated before boarding.

    Advice to Management

Rethink how you do ULCC and make training longer so that you know not just memorized

    Pros

Open concept work environment. Flight benefits.

    Cons

Work life balance is non existent. Medical benefits are expensive and plans have poor coverage. Expect to work hard as long as you are okay without being appreciated for it. Communication and support from management is poor.

    Advice to Management

Executive management needs to clean house in respect to Senior management in order for company success and team enguagement to flourish.

I worked at Spirit Airlines part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Training
    They take people without experience
Get positioned and skilled in many different areas

    Cons

    Extremely low pay
At the FLL airport, the airline doesn't have enough employees to cover all the flights leaving in 5 minute intervals.
A lot of passengers will be hit with unexpected baggage fees or miss their flight if they need special assistance. You will work with a LOT of angry customers. It's extremely stressful and not healthy to work in that environment.

    Advice to Management

Salary increase, broaden flight departure interval

I have been working at Spirit Airlines full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Company has been trying to improve moral under a new leadership team and it has increased somewhat.
Flying benefits are good, which is inline with most of the industry.

    Cons

The salary is well below industry standard. You can expect to start at $16.15 for an airport services supervisory role with a marginal 2-3% increase annually. Other airlines pay well above this for non-supervisor roles with less work load and responsibility. The job is salaried at that rate and you do not receive any overtime for delays are cancellations that may require you working well above 40 hours for the week.

Sub-Par 401K match. 50% contribution up to 6% of your deferred salary.
NO profit sharing or performance incentive for non-management employees (including supervisor team) Management receives short term incentive bonus.
    High attrition rate.
Full time to part time ratio is extremely high.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be management in place that has a true heart and care for their team members. The fake sentiments and empty hearted attempts are weak. You cannot try and change the culture of the company with the same toxic management in place and expect for magic to happen.

Pay employees a reasonable wage for work performed instead of scraping at the bottom of the barrel for your "awesome" team members. The company is losing far too many talented individuals to real airlines that pay real salaries.

    Pros

Travel if that's what you are looking for, coworkers, taking as much shifts as you want to make more money.

    Cons

Stressful and hostile environment with mad passengers due to the company's awful policies so you have to be cold blooded to tell NO to passengers even when most of the times they are right, cheap/crappy equipment and systems, mandatory overtime, lots of arguing with passengers because they have to pay for breathing.

    Advice to Management

    Resign

I worked at Spirit Airlines full-time

    Pros

Multiple fun activities; opportunities to be a Spirit advocate and travel; free standby travel on start date for perm hires, fun atmosphere to balance stressful nature of industry; Food Truck Fridays; popcorn Fridays (summer); multicultural events onsite; holiday picnics and parties; coworkers easy to approach and helpful.

    Cons

HR processes and IT needs streamlining. Job descriptions sometimes have typos or different titles that one listed; Onboarding a challenge - new employees now have to wait days for computers and access to network resources. IT infrastructure and ticketing in place but often easier to email or call IT contacts to get things done.
Training and onboarding a bit spotty - classes given by HR more organized but slides and handouts may not sync.
Some manager been there for over 10 years and need training on people development and feedback skills. Older ones are a bit old school and can be unprofessional without even realizing it.

    Advice to Management

Improve your HR team and have mandatory training for managers on team building and honest feedback. Implement employee feedback on manager to know how your teams truly feel about them and work to improve on it.
Since leaving, many external peers told me I shouldn't have worked there and a recruiter told me "something is wrong over there". Knowing so many nice people there made that hard to hear and I would like it to improve. Good luck!

I have been working at Spirit Airlines full-time

    Pros

there is nothing good about the company except it is located in south Florida.

    Cons

No work life balance. They want you to work all time. They want you to log in from home, doesn't matter whether its weekend or you in vacation. Micro managed and they put you in fear especially in BI department.
You will be working in 20X20 room with 20 plus employees

    Advice to Management

First, assure them about their job and have a one on one talk to employees and find out what the reality is. Reach out to the real victims.
