Your going to be broke for a few years

Oct 25, 2021 - Flight Attendant in Las Vegas, NV

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Flight Benefits, Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) Will match up to 6%. When you have a line, your work / life balance is significantly better and to be honest that's why people stay here. You will be able to choose where and when you want to fly. For example, you will not want to be flying to Atlanta on Spirit.

    Cons

If you have to commute, it is really hard to make any money. The company likes to take advantage of the reserves (on call) flight attendants. We are currently in contract negotiations. It's not a great time for the company until we have signed a new contract, due to the violations the company is actively violating. The union is weak when trying to fight a contract violation. Since the pandemic, the customers have been very mean - this includes violent people. It can get scary sometimes. The gate agents don't stay around - they are hired by a third party company, so they are not always properly trained on how to handle all the situations.

    Disorganized

Jul 18, 2021 - Lead Ramp Agent in Fort Lauderdale, FL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Just about the only pro is having flight benefits...

    Cons

The problem on the ramp is that the company knew during the pandemic that they would be expanding their operation and daily arrivals and departures out of FLL however never addressed the manpower and lack of pay for the Ramp personnel. Starting pay for the ramp is $11.91/hour.. That is a horrible way to treat some of the hardest workers in the company. This is physical work in the hot south Florida heat and rain, trying to turn planes around after arrival and then pushing in 45 minutes. So since the company never addressed the lack of manpower, this led to a mass exodus of employees and this made the company start dishing out mandatory OT on anyone still coming to work. You would never leave on time. This was a management problem above the actual ramp supervisors. No time to eat as you are going flight to flight. It got so bad that you had to complain to a ramp supervisor to eat or drink.

Low class trash low cost carrier

    Pros

Free flight benefits on other airlines, New planes, coworkers are pleasant.

    Cons

Passengers are ghetto trash low class and ignorant. Its like working at a trailer trash adult daycare. I hope you are ready to call the cops and remove passengers on a weekly basis. Are you a good referee ? Because fights will have to be broken up as well. Let me mention the psycho passenger shot up the fll airport just because probably had to pay extra for bags. I only saw things like this in movies. Since I didnt get paid enough to deal with an unsafe work environment I had to leave for my safety.

Good Intro to Ramp Life, Terrible to Stay at

May 25, 2021 - Ramp Agent in Miami, FL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good start to work at, hires people who have never been on ramp before Pretty good flight benefits If you want extreme hours you can get well over 60 hours a week if wanted

    Cons

If you don't want extreme hours too bad, mandatory overtime is posted almost every day Spirit planes have much more bags than any other airline Understaffed is an understatement, days go by with no breaks and nonstop flights to load and unload Management does not care about you, and neither does the union. Bids don't mean anything, they will pull you from wherever you applied for to help their flights.

    Terrible company to work for

    Aug 4, 2021 - Guest Service Agent
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The flight benefits...you can fly them or better airlines that don't cancel nearly half as much and are more comfortable.

    Cons

Spirit employees are dedicated to a company that shows no dedication to its employees. They have a revolving door. Most people use Spirit as a entry into the aviation industry and quickly move on to companies that treat their employees better. They place ill-equipped workers in lead and supervisory/managerial roles. The pay scale is somewhat low. Its not what you know, its who you know. Spirit is a self sabotaging company which is why you get strikes almost every year which causes massive cancellations and even more disappointed passengers.
