I worked at Spirit Halloween (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have worked for this company a few times over the years and it is usually a great experience.
    Great starting pay.
    Quarter raises yearly.
You get paid time and a half the week of Halloween but you must work Halloween for this to be effective.
Obviously a great job if you love Halloween like I do.
Different themes and product every year.
    Fun experience overall.
Advancement opportunities. I started as a sales associate and was promoted during my second year to Assistant Manager.
It's really easy to get back on every year if you do a good job.

    Cons

    It is not year round!
    Messy customers.

I worked at Spirit Halloween part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Diverse mix of people coming in and out of the store and that work there, it's a halloween store with crazy makeup and costumes.

    Cons

Sometimes you run into certain people not wanting to do their job and you have to motivate or discipline them. Dressing rooms can become so unorganized. Management seemed like they couldn't make up their mind on the store layout.

    Advice to Management

Felt like company didn't trust employees. Invest in real cameras or anti theft devices to help discourage thieves.

I worked at Spirit Halloween part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers and management for the most part
Hours distributed based on competence, not favoritism (in this store)

    Cons

    Customers are the worst part
Some associates who should be fired aren't because of the seasonality.
There can be huge variation between stores - if store manager is bad, it usually brings down the whole staff.

    Advice to Management

Select store managers carefully, and give them the power to build adequate teams.
    No more dressing rooms

I have been working at Spirit Halloween full-time

    Pros

Last year was great. The manager there respected our input etc. Had a fun time we all worked really hard.

    Cons

This year not so great. I've been publicly yelled at in front of all the employees there over a misunderstanding that we could have easily been taken aside and talked to about. Currently looking to transfer. If not I'm leaving.

    Advice to Management

Listen and talk to employees before assuming the worst and yelling at them.
